The Casa Del Mar is a family owned/run residence and we were greeted by Walter (the son) on arrival, who made us very welcome and even gave us a lift to and from the local restaurant on our first night. Afterwards, he was able to arrange car hire for us which is invaluable if you want to get around the area sight-seeing as buses are infrequent. Casa Del Mar is a great location as Modica and Regusa are close by as is Punta Secca and Scicli. The area is popular with Inspector Montelbano fans as .
all reviews » The host family were excellent and their ability to speak English was helpful. The rooms we had were spacious and clean. The area is quiet as it is being developed but the premises have very good gardens which allow for relaxing in the sun or taking shade. The sea is a few minutes walk and we enjoyed the walk along the beach to the nearby village. Given the popularity of the tv series insp. Montalbano and the location of the premises this presents a great position to visit the various sites of . This is a great base for exploring the SE coast and baroque towns. Casa del Mar is a family owned residence just 100m from the gentle, rocky coast for swimming, or 500m from the sandy bay. Our apartment was very private with 2 terraces. It was light, clean and spacious with secure parking and free bicycles for accessing the many sandy beaches nearby. The family are both professional and helpful and take great care of their residents. We booked for 4 nights and stayed for 8! What more can . Helpful friendly houseowner can speak english. Villa is the most coziest hotel on the coast. 10 minutes to the Beach. Beach is sandy and empty. Two room and kitchen in the appartment. Very nice and cosy place. The beach is lovely. Walter was very friendly and helpful, he even took us to the center of Modica. Everything was just fine. Nice owner. Very important that at least somebody in Sicily speaks english as well :). We cleaned the room and out the garbage themselves.15 minutes by car to the shop or restorant. You can't have comfortable stay in this hotel without car. the town is emty outside the summer months. Lack of warm water - it took 30 minutes of running water for it to become warm, not even hot. You need a car for everything. Mosquitos and location far from everywhere.
