We have just returned from one of the best holidays ever; the location & views are stunning and being self catering meant we did not have to eat out every day, we could enjoy simple meals on our balcony & just gaze out at that glorious view. 10 minutes walk (up steps) takes you to Pogerola centre where you have a choice of eating places, Gerry always made us welcome at his pub and the food at the Brigante restaurant is superb. all reviews » We utterly loved the position:its isolation from the crowds, the simplicity and serenity of the place and, of course, the views. Several decks to relax on and lovely garden all around our apartment too. We loved walking around the hills of Pogerola ( even the many steps up to the town square), and the walk down to Amalfi center, the local restaurant and the Pizzeria just 5 minutes or so up the road from Al Poggio. We discovered it on our last night and had the best pizza ( and very small bill. This is very beautiful place! however you must be ready for dramatic elevation changes and your feet must be ready to go a lot. The hotel is very nice, is there all necessary for cooking and rest. We nad a beautiful view of the sea. The owner Luisa is very hospitable and she was very kind to wait us when we have been late. Close to the hotel is a busstop, shops and restaurants. There is a car parking for three cars. Beautiful apartment, extremely clean and fresh, large bedroom. Beautiful view and we loved sitting out on the balconey. Lady that checked us in was lovely and told us of her mini mart just up the road where we could get all our groceries. Nice, comfortable apartment with a great view over the Amalfi coast from the balcony - as you would hope since it's 1,228 steps uphill from Amalfi! It's a tough walk but can be avoided as there is everything you need in Pogerola, a mere 178 steps (5 minutes) further up the hill. We were left some supplies for our first breakfast in the apartment which was nice. Overall just very relaxing. Our apartment was perfect for us - spacious, with a great terrace with a million dollar view of the ocean 1000' below. reasonably well equipped kitchen. Good hot water. There are shops for provisions and restaurants in the nearby town of Pogerola. Area is very peaceful - you are in the countryside surrounded by lemon groves. It is a self catering apartment spacious and very nice. Location is similar to a balcony place in an amphitheatre, which make the view great. Pogerola village is upstairs to it. There you can buy everything you need, go to an excellent restaurant or just enjoy the friendly atmosphere of people living in a quite location. view from villa was very nice. very relaxing. big rooms. good kitchen.. was all that need for cooking. we lived at villa under parking. we didnt heard the sounds of cars and neighbors. also out of the hotel was near and not so many stairs. rooms was clean too. price of villa was very good for this period. I would likely recommended this place to anyone, this is far enough from the town not get get all the noise and traffic. Well you are in the mountains after all so you must expect to have to climb or descend somehow. We are mid 50's and would suggest only reasonably fit people would handle all those steps. The kitchen lacks some essentials like an egg lifter and a decent coffee maker. (There was one that could make 1 tiny espresso only) The shower is handheld which makes it difficult to wash one's hair. The bathroom needed shade. No wifi (but head up to Gerry's pub in Pogerola) and no washing machine in apartment. IT is a 20 minute drive from Amalfi up the mountain, and the last stretch is on a very narrow road (you have to reverse if someone comes the other way). Parking is available but difficult to maneuver. Limited cell phone availability. Lots of stairs (its the same everwhere in Amalfi area). It is isolated house with several apartments. You need a car to have access or you must use the bus for Pogerola that runs every hour from Amalfi. many stairs to go to Amalfi from villa but it good for training.... ))))). Parking was with paid. Parking is very difficult, but don't let this stop you. The Wi-fi is a bit slow. Some difficult to find, drive a SMALL car to get there or you'll be stuck! No GPS can help, phone when you're close!. 250 steps up to shops.
