From the moment we sighted the guesthouse we fell in love with it. Theresa greeted us like family and it was obvious her attention to detail ran right through the house, the guest rooms and to her selection and presentation of the food. We loved that you could relax in the guest lounge with a glass of wine from the courtesy bar, write postcards at an antique desk or simply curl up on a comfy sofa by the fire. Albert Morrow's food is superb and the fact there is a paddock-to-plate focus is comme.
all reviews » The location to Donegal Town was ideal because it was only a 10 minute walk to shopping, restaurants, bars and sightseeing yet we also felt like we were in the countryside on a farm. Ard Na Breatha is beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and clean and were separated from the dining room, bar and check-in which gave it a very private feel. The food was fantastic both breakfast and dinner. Theresa is so kind, friendly and helpful. She gave us all the right recommendations for buses, sightse. What a wonderful experience! If in this beautiful area on travel, this is the ideal place. situated on the outskirts of Donegal, this property is part of a working farm, with all its benefits: fresh produce on the menu, and typical Irish charm and hospitality by the host Theresa. Practical accommodation in a separate building with everything available to let you immediately feel at home. Exquisite 3 course dinner and enjoyable farm breakfast available. Highly recommended!. Theresa was an excellent hostess. She is a lovely person th talk to. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, one of the best we had. We also had dinner there one night. The fish I had was perfectly cooked, very lightly sauced. My husband's lamb was tender and flavorful. Theresa made excellent recommendations for touring the area. We had a very nice time staying in Donegal. We spent a night at Ard na Breatha. Unfortunately, it was only one night. We would like to come back and stay again at this b & B. The Donegal area is both rich with history and spectacular views. The morning meal was the best of our entire trip. The choices are right on the spot. The snow on the mountains to the north was not to be expected and gave pause to the notion that spring is arriving. When we arrived, we thought the guesthouse would be far away from the city, but it wasn´t. We got a description of the way into town. So it lasted just 15 minutes to walk. Many thanks to the very friendly and kind housekeeping lady! We felt very welcome. The rooms and beds were comportable and very quiet. The breakfast was the best we ever had in a bed and breakfast in Ireland. A very pleasant homey venue in scenic rolling hills with plenty of easy, free parking on site. Our triple room was clean, quaint, and had complete en suite facilities. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Although not inexpensive, this is a lovely venue to recoup from the pressures of a packed vacation schedule. The setting, the accommodations, but most of all the staff. They were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Unfortunately we arrived too late for dinner, but breakfast was delicious! The sitting room with the fireplace was a wonderful place for our group of 6 to gather and enjoy a drink the evening we arrived. Loved the two sitting rooms, one with gas heating, one with a fire. So relaxing and one we had to ourselves at that time. Presumably other guests were in their room or at the 2nd lounge. Room was spacious. Food in own restaurant was absolutely gourmet - fantastic quality and presentation. Affordable luxury. What a beautiful place! Not the owners fault, but the boiler acted up and there was no hot water to shower with. Tricky to find initially. There was nothing at all to dislike. Wee bit more varity on dinner menu perhaps .

Travelling information

Come into Donegal Town Centre, take the Killybegs Road, drive 200 yards and take the first road to right, sign posted for Ard na Breatha and Lough Eske etc. Continue on this road until you come to a mini roundabout go right here at the XL Shop, straight ahead for approx. half a mile, under the bypass, Ard na Breatha is at the top of the hill. Location on N15 bypassing Donegal Town: On approaching Donegal Town from either Sligo, Derry, or Letterkenny, you will come to a roundabout at Lidl store, take the Killybegs exit N56 from here, at the next roundabout take a left in towards Donegal Town, take the next left (last sign on the signpost is Ard na Breatha, other signs on the post Lough Eske Etc) continue until you come to a mini roundabout take a right here at the XL shop, continue straight ahead pass the houses, for approx. half a mile,under the bypass ,we are at the top of the hill.
