Schierke boasts one of Germany’s most modern cross-country ski networks. Downhill skiing is also possible here and in Braunlage. In addition, a natural ice rink forms in the valley of the Kalten Bode each winter.

Schierke’s summer toboggan run offers fun for all the family, and nearby Wurmberg is also worth a visit.

Keen hikers can choose from 22 official hiking routes in the Hochharz nature park. The Brocken peak can be reached from the hotel in approximately 2 hours, or you could take the Brockenbahn railway to the summit instead.
