The Hotel is situated in an old building which has been nicely renovated & restaured. The setting is in walking distance from Goslar center and all main attractations. There is a beautiful courtyard to relax and have drinks in the evening. Rooms are spotless and very comfortable, breakfast is excellent within the German traditions. The Hotel Alte Munze is an excellent choice in Goslar. The decor was lovely and being the Advent season it was tastefully decorated for the season. The staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were exceptional. Location could not be better.
all reviews » Goslar is beautiful, ideal and different location for walking in the hills, mooching in the town, eating & drinking in German cafe culture. Absolutely beautiful bespoke boutique hotel, cool on very hot weather, well facilitated, charming place. Our room was spotless and large with a big bathroom and huge bath. They have a bar with an 'honesty' system so you help yourself to drinks and fill out a chit. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Very nice room, good beds, large bathroom. Excellent heating. Free and fast internet.Very good breakfast. Nice and polite personnel. Location in middle of the centre of Goslar, but no traffic noise. Staff - Location - Price. excellent staff. The outside lighting is dim. Leaving the hotel by the front door, two ground spotlights make seeing the sidewalk difficult. The office closes at 8 PM and one was must use a gate which is not well lit. Even having supper at 1830 meant coming in the back entrance. This would not be an issue other than in winter. Some (but limited) noise from people on the street during evening/night in the weekend. Noise isolation to neighbour rooms not as that good, but no problem in practice. Nothing bad. only because of its popularity we weren't able to extend our stay!. The church bells rang all night..not the hotel's responsibility, but the chiming every 15 minutes made it a little hard to sleep. Take earplugs. No hotel in town would be immune from the chiming, so Alte Mümze is still a fabulous choice. No elevator so difficult if you have physical problems. What we felt that what was missing was "pratical confort": like a desk where to stay using the computer (there was an old small desk on the room but no chair to sit at the desk) or a bench to open our bag (he had to leave it on the floor, not very confortable), and there was plenty of room for it. The only thing we didn't like was the fact that the bathroomdoor was made of glass, we felt somewhat "exposed" in there. * Check-in time is very strict - you must be there by 8 pm or sleep on the street. * Extremely hard to find. Nothing I didn't like. Hotel bar had limited opening times. I missed airkondition. creaky floor but to be expected I guess in a 500 year old building.
