The owners were so friendly and welcoming and made us feel so at home. We booked La Mare Elan as a stopover point both at the beginning and the end of our two week holiday, and I can honestly say that all six of us were really looking forward to staying there again and spending time with the owners again. They obviously both really enjoy running the place which adds to the lovely relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are lovely, the décor is very traditional French and the rooms were very clean. Th.

Breakfast was so enjoyable - with fresh bread and pastries, home made jams and bowls of cherries and redcurrants picked from the garden. With other guests and the owners on hand throughout, it had the atmosphere of a House Party.. The previous evening on the recommendation of Madame we ate well at a hotel on the coast at Houlgate La Mare Elan is a real gem!. Interesting place, quite quirky, lots of animals - donkey, Llama, geese & ducks, etc. A chicken was determined to show us around LOL. Independent units in a barn conversion attached to a former cider-press, good size room, well equipped. Good value. Super hosts, good continental breakfast. Quiet location on small country road about ten mins from the coast, 20 mins from Pegasus Bridge, 20 mins from Trouville. Fantastic place in the old farmhouse! Very warm owner and beautiful countryside. Our children spent time there with donkey, lama, good dog and etc. If you want you can have relaxing jacuzzi at the hotel or play piano near the chimney. Free spacious parking and wi-fi. Good lacation at the road between the seaside and local central city Kaen. A lovely, tranquil retreat set in a beautiful location. The owners were very acommodating and friendly. We arrived early and this wasn't a problem. It's not near any conveniences but this was what attracted us to it. However, shops/restaurants are only a short drive away. Shabby - chic. Warm welcome from the owner. He found a restaurant for us on a busy Saturday night. Room was very clean - quirky. Converted Cider barn housed breakfast. Fresh bread and croissants. Again close attention of owners to our needs. What a wonderful place! We fell in love with it. The rooms are great and the scenery excellent. The owners made us feel at home. Hospitable and friendly owners, tasty breakfast, attractive design, relaxing atmosphere. friendly, helpful and very happy to help. Made us feel very welcome. Great family room. Lovely breakfast and location was fantastic. Super friendly owners, that were welcoming and helpful. Quiet location and family run. nothing! It was great!. Nothing. Nothing. No facilities within reasonable walking distance.
