The staff were absolutely fantastic. We were greeted with a smile, and my inconcsistent French speaking skills were not a problem. The lovely woman even gave my young son a new nickname! My wife and I were both impressed with the size, and comfort of the room. Bright and airy with hot/cold air conditioning controlled from the room. The staff were very accomodating, offering to heat up food for our son out of hours. Staff offered us great reccommendations on the local area and activities. The Lo.

LaRochelle is such a beautiful city to explore, lots of lovely cafes + restaurants, lovely shops. Beautiful buildings as well as the beach. Location. Overlooking harbour, central to town and restaurants. Helpful friendly staff. Small family French hotels used to be like this. A little tired looking outside and common areas but comfortable clean and good value rooms. Great position overlooking the harbour, and full of character. This could be a charming place to stay. The little breakfast terrace was lovely, and the owner and her daughter in particular made us very welcome and accomodating. The welcome was warm and helpful and when we left they helped us down the stairs with our bikes. Lots of restaurants nearby and right by the port but not noisy for sleeping even on carnival night!. Wonderful location, our third floor room overlooked the port. Car park nearby. Both receptionists were extremely helpful & spoke excellent English. Would definitely return. We were staying for one night only and travelling by public transport - bus from airport and train the following day to Rochforte so the location was ideal. Right in the center of all the action on the sea front in La Rochelle. We liked the two comfy chairs and the large size room. WIFI works well. No 7 coach from Airport to Place de Verdun and then a short walk to L'Ocean which overlooks the port. A simple hotel which would be classed as a B&B in England. Only facility is small breakfast room, but staff are very friendly and helpful. The location. Helpful staff. Location near old harbor shore,. Not much. There was no lift, but we new that beforehand and managed no problem. Staff even offered to help with our bags. The hotel was great - although there are lots of stairs. This isn't a criticism as the nature of the bulding probably wouldn't allow for a lift. Also its a bit faded, but this adds to the character + the location and views make up for everything. Common areas rather tired. Some work is needed to improve/modernise the shower/toilet/aircon, and clearly there is work underway to fitting storage cupboards in the hallway which have yet to be finished. We had to switch the aircon unit off due to the noise which wasnt ideal in the heat of August. The flights of stairs were a bit tricky for us with motorcycle gear and baggage!. The stairs up to reception - we had bicycles with us and had to carry them upstairs!. No lift could be a problem for some people. No tea/coffee making facility No room service facility. The festival, which was on the day I arrived. Nowhere in hotel to get tea/coffee before going to bed. Everything else. Without any car acces, the near parking (payant) more than 300 metres away. Room are quite claustrophobical, furniture are of poor taste. Sanitary facility old and very unergonomic. Air condition unit was very noisy. Wi-fi available but no functional (extremley low signal-better signal in downstairs hall only).
