Angelina went out of her way to be helpful and she put on a great breakfast every morning with fresh fruit and home-made yoghurt. The availability of the bikes was a bonus for us and we cycled part of the canal du midi and saw the nine locks and Pont vieux. Great thing to do. The nearby park is lovely and Angelina's advice on restaurants was very useful. Owners were extremely friendly and helpful - all their recommendations about where to eat, what to see and what to do were excellent. Hotel is well situated in Beziers overlooking an extensive and very pretty park/gardens and very handy for exploring the town. Tourist office is almost opposite. Breakfast was very good and served until late morning.
all reviews » The landlady was really kind and helpfull even she didnt really speak English nor we speak French. We really enjoyed the quality of the interior and the atmosphere of the hotel. It is closely situated to the town center and the historic sights of Béziers are really close. We didn't take the breakfast so I can not evaluate it. We used the hotel as a stopover location for which it served its purpose. The staff were fantastic and extremely helpful. Our room was over the street but we did not experience street noise or disruptive noise at night even though the area could be described as "a bit iffy". Hotel des Poetes is located within walking distance from the train station in Beziers. It is very clean and the staff was very accommodating with our request for glasses with ice cubes. The hotel is across from a lovely historic garden. The patronne although full negotiated with an American couple to change rooms for a twin bedded room, but this meant we moved from second to third floor. The patronne patiently re-made the beds in our presence. Location, a short though uphill walk from the train station, and a lovely park opposite, ideal for a morning stroll. Also liked the decor and the breakfast which included home made yoghurt. We arrived late but had warned them: they were prepared, took time to recommend restaurants and were genuinely welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean and airy. Highly recommended. Bedroom was quite small and there was no lift!!. 3 flights of stairs - but didn't really mind since they led to our room with a view over the park. As a budget traveler I found nothing to criticize. We are two men aged 75 & 91and we were given a double bedded room by mistake - whose?. Shower was difficult for a man of my girth - no soap dish. 54 steps to room. No lift (we were on the third floor). Room was quite small. Wi-Fi was free but a little bit dodgy in the bedroom. It was fine downstairs though. Minor quibbles though. No lift and fairly small room ( but it wasn't a big deal). Wifi connection kept goling off. No Bar. Small bathroom/shower. Stars are difficult with suitcases . Be wary of this if you are on 3rd or 4th floor. It isn't far from the station but it's a pull up the hill. The room was nice but you have to be fit and slim. Room on the small side. Small room,cramped bathroom. No elevator, small stairs, bed was not too compfortable. No free parking available near by. The stairs! No lift and we were on the third floor despite requesting a lower floor. No lift which makes getting bags up to your bedroom a bit of a trial. Stained sheets. Peeling paint in bathroom. Cheap toiletries and thin (smelly) towels. Tiny room and uncomfortable (small double) bed. Noise from corridor and a very loud fight outside in the street. Expensive breakfast (which we declined). Advised that check-on was 2 pm onwards arrived to find sign on door saying the hotel was closed until 3.30. Very steep stairs to rooms, no lift. Definitely unsuitable for elderly or anyone with walking difficulties. Rooms very small with no storage area or surfaces. Shower tiny.
