A friendly, family run inn, very much appreciated the help with connecting with guides for the next leg of our journey, extremely helpful in numerous ways. Well located for short trips in and out of Guayaquil, also close to a major shopping mall. Pool nice to cool off after a hot day. Not set up for early breakfast but kindly supplied sandwiches and juices for our early departures. We recommend for budget conscious visitors.
all reviews » Hotel is fairly close to the airport and bus station, and close to Mall Del Sol - lots of nice shops and a movie theater with English movies. Staff spoke excellent English and was very helpful with calling taxis, etc. Room has more than most hostels, with TV, queen size bed, nightstands, wardrobe, table & chairs. A/C worked fine and hot shower. The staff was vey welcoming and friendly. English speaking person on staff. Rooms are plain but very clean. Hot water, cable television, and air conditioning. The hotel is a 5 minute taxi ride to airport. ($4). Staff will call a secure taxi. The hotel is also very secure. Close to Guayaquil airport. Taxi drive was $4 from hotel. Also there is a very good Chinese restaurant close by, called Cantones. It is close to the Convention Center, and several malls. It has free WiFi. Friendly staff. The hotel is very close to the airport and great to hang between flights and also 5 minutes walk from a big mall. The hotel itself is well equipped and nice to stay in that budget. Helpfull and friendly staff, close to the Mall del Sol, the bigest Shopping Center and other good stores. We'll stay next time again. the staff and the manager was excellent. and very accomodating. the location was excellent to connect to highways or airport. While the hotel itself is quite good and comfortable, its biggest disadvantage is location. If you don't feel comfortable travelling in local buses, then you have to use taxi to get to the center and back (taxi ride cost about $8 'Return' (i.e. $4+$4). Sometimes even local drivers have difficulties with finding the place. Hotels staff is very helpful. [Additional info: there is baggage store facility in the city Airport and the price is $7 per one suitcase - therefore I preferred to leave my su. The staff was friendly enough; the place was clean enough; it was very inexpensive; it was very convenient to the airport; and the overall accomodations were more than adequate. Overall, good value for the money; PROVIDED, however, that your room is not facing the street because the irregular, sporadic traffic NOISE from the very busy street, whether at 1 or 2 or 3 or 4am is VERY LOUD!!!. Flew in at night and departed by plane the next morning so I was just looking for a bed for the night. Conveniently located to the airport with clean room. I organized an airport pick up so someone was waiting for me when I arrived and hotel was only a couple of minutes drive away. Room had sliding glass door to balcony, but a big gate with lock on the inside so you couldn't open it. Kind of felt like a caged animal, but I suppose it's necessary for security in Guayaquil. Felt floor could have been mopped in room, kids feet got black walking without socks, seemed sweeped not mopped. Forgot to give me 4am wake-up call but I had back up alarm. Did order 5am taxi as requested. For four beds we did have only one nightstand. street noise, very loud parakeets in hall outside room so hard to sleep. the front rooms are very noisy because of the traffic on the street all night long!. There wasn't anything I didn't like. This is budget friendly and offered great value for the money. shower was old bad caulk needs work mold on shower curtain. Can't think of anything I didn't like!. It is a noisy place indeed, but for me it was not a problem. The most annoying thing for me was getting to the hotel and back. The street noise was almost unbearable, even with ear plugs the entire night. Hostal Perla faces a very busy, noisy major street. I had booked the room 2 days before arriving. And, it was, apparently, the only room available. I will tell you it was like being tortured by loud, sporadic, irregular traffic noice. If you can get assurances that your room is some distance from the street, I say Hostal Perla is a real good buy for a night layover before resuming your travels. Fine for an airport layover overnight. Rooms had hot water, aircon, tv, clean but musty smelling and needed airing out. Decor very old. Ok for the price and convenience. Wouldn't stay here if I was spending any time in town. Bathtub appeared not to have been cleaned. The garage is about a block away. Location was strange nothing that close. Noise-- you can hear everything outside the room. toilet leaked all over floor, they never fixed it in 3 days, Air conditioning would not go below 25 degrees, and there was no hot water the first night. There were no bedbugs, and the bed was clean and comfortable. Furniture was sparse, and there were 3 beds crammed in our room. Extremely noisy. Rooms at the back should have been better. Location was awful -- the noise was awful from the street --- there was no elevator!!!!. I the ac was not working , and at the next door hoterl o house started working very early with a big noise .. Smells.
