We had one of the best rooms overlooking the Glacier / lake. Not many rooms have this, so make sure you ask for this. It is not the cheapest of hotels (all are expensive in the park) and there is only a limited choice of meals, which are quite expensive. You need a car to get arround and two nights here should be enough to see the main part of the park. Not what we were expecting but pleasantly surprised due to it's more relaxed non pretentious manner. We must have scored the best room with two huge windows, one to bush and one up the lake to the glacier with rich blue icebergs in full view, AND the room was quiet and superbly spacious. Boat trip was excellent up Lago Grey too.

It was, however, pricey and we looked at two other less expensive and somewhat shabby rooms before deciding to spend the extra money for a great room with a wonderful view. Breakfast. View over Lago Grey. The slightly older guy who likes to sing was a great server/bartender! Maid staff did a great job cleaning the room. The videos in the evenings are a great idea and interesting. The bar area was pretty sweet. We stayed here after we completed the Torres del Paine W Trek. Really liked our room and the hotel. We did not eat at the restaurant for dinner as just ordering a sandwich at the bar was much cheaper. Great location, beautiful views. Staff was mostly friendly, but you had to know which ones to ask. There were a few who were brusque, and a few that were simply going through the motions. Incredible views from superior suites and common facilities, good service and menu at restaurant, good access to park, views of icebergs facinating. The view in the superior rooms and the restaurant is breathtaking. Tours can be booked once in the hotel and the staff is helpful. We tried the dining room for the evening meal (which was expensive - $100 for two) and it was pretty awful too. For breakfast, they kept putting out the same stale stuff each morning, but did offer to make eggs if we wanted. The dining hall was too expensive. We wanted a room with one large bed instead of a room with two small beds. The front desk staff only spoke English when it was to their advantage, but when we had a small complaint or wanted to get more details about something they didn't want to talk about, they then said they couldn't speak English. The excursion guy got all mad when I asked a question that he didn't like. There needs to be hot-tubs!!!. The staff could be a little more friendly and helpful!. Sometimes it felt overwhelmingly like we were on a cruise ship. Room had a few issues but the staff fixed them relatively promptly. Could use better directions on how to get there. As the hotel is located in the national park and is quite isolated, transportation to and from the hotel can be tricky and should be booked in advance to avoid expensive private cars, especially during late hours. In general, for the price, we thought the food could have been better. The chef had limited ingredients, we get that, but seemed to try too hard, resulting in some strange dishes. Grilled hake smothered in honey and breakfast cereal was not a happy combination, for example. Keep it simple is our advice. The food was appalling, with no choices or substitutions, and you are trapped there. At this price, it should be better. It should have been more clear that there were different dining options. The main meals were very good but pricey and more food than I needed. It took us a few meals to realize we didn't have to order everything. That made us happy. Clarity here would be very good. Price of excursion. Internet didn't work and sounded like it hadn't for awhile. Administrative staff very off hand. Food overpriced but no alternative. We enjoyed breakfast relatively late : 9:15 No more omelette, no more bacon, no juice and little milk left. After complaining more than once refulling was done. Price to reflect situation with no alternative for Glacier Grey. The heating system wasn´t good enough. to go to the restaurant/reception we must go outside. Room was dirty, hair and dust everywhere, carpet was fitly. It took forever to check in and check out. Poor value for the money they are charging, I don't mind paying big bucks when I get something for it but this was not the case here. WiFi was very slow Looking a bit tired Room was a bit dark. Staff were efficient but not friendly. The only dinner menu offered is a fixed-price multi-course menu at US$50 per person. Only if you insist that you cannot eat so much food, will they reluctantly offer you the option to order and pay for individual courses. Staff, service, lobby, bar and food in restaurant of bad quality. All specified items are not in balance with pricing.
