What people say
Our room on the third floor was enormous and very well equipped. It looked like it had been recently refurbished with a pleasant colour scheme of browns, creams and coffee colours. The bed was huge, firm and very comfortable. The kitchen was a good size and well equipped and there was tons of wardrobe and storage space. There was also a good iron and ironing board. The bathroom had both a bath and shower. The air con was most welcome as we enjoyed very good weather and high temperatures. . all reviews »
The location is perfect. It's close to the Inner Harbour, BC Parliament Building and the famous Fairmount Empress. Walking less than five minutes, you will be at the coast. The Douglas Street, which is the street that Helm's Inn is on, has tons of restaurants, convenient stores and shops. You can easily walk a restaurant and grab something to eat. It also has bus stops nearby. Basically this hotel is very comfortable and close to everything. They also provide free coffee and tea all day, with m.
The size of the room was large-to accommodate the option of a Murphy
bed, which we didn't need. The kitchen was well equipped and helped
us save on meals. On site laundry was a life saver. This location is 2-3
blocks from the inner harbor and 6 to the wharf; and across the street
from Beacon Hill park - which is lovely, large, and complete with
fountains, scenic views and peacocks. It also is located at the point of
two main roads that go to the ferries, Butchart Gardens and the southern
west c.
The staff was excellent. We had requested an early check in but arrived even earlier. Staff graciously said the room wasn't ready and suggested we put our luggage in a lock up area until the room was ready and offered us a coffee/tea. we were happy and said not to worry we would return later as long as we could leave our luggage. When we returned the front desk clerk cheerfully greeted us and then proceeded to get our luggage. She remembered it! All the staff was extremely polite, courteous .
Everything really. One on the best places I've stayed on my travels at this price. It is bright, modern, well equipped and generally a really nice space to be in. There are shops close by to stock up the kitchen, and you are minutes from the bus station and Seattle ferry terminals, with a lovely beach walk closely. Oh, free, excellent wifi and in a quiet neighbourhood too. Highly recommended.
The location is top notch. Easy access by walking to a lot of inner harbor and area attractions and food services. Room design was spacious. Kitchen area updated and appreciated.
King suite is very comfortable and easy to relax in. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Lobby area very warm and inviting, especially with the fireplace going and you walk in on a cooler, rainy day.
The room was large, very clean and comfortable, with a full kitchen and
a Murphy bed (which we did not need, but good to know they have it). The
location is great - easy walks to all the downtown attractions. The
staff were really friendly and helpful - Chris went out of his way to
pack and forward an item of medical equipment we had left behind.
Overall 5 Stars.
I liked how comfortable I feel at the Helm's Inn, not too formal but not too folksy - just right.
I like how central the hotel is to the tourist features, to Beacon Hill Park for exercise, to the ocean for the Pacific Ocean experience, to all the waterfront walks and to the downtown shopping.
You can tell, I have stayed more than once.
The simple European style....walking distance to everything yet meeting
all our needs...cleanliness....great bed....flat screen tv....friendly
efficient staff....large comfortable space...nice kitchenette... Loved
the courtyard with the gorgeous french lilac.....The free parking was a
bonus....Plan to return for longer.
We liked everything about this place. Staff was friendly and helpful. Suite was clean and roomy. Very good location, close to the inner harbor, walking distance to groceries and liquor store. Excellent value. We plan on returning to Victoria, and we will stay at Helm's Inn!.
Spacious room with every comfort well thought out. A well stocked kitchenette with complimentary items. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful foyer with fireplace, couches and complimentary tea/coffee. Very quiet location and yet steps from Downtown shopping.
The staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable about Victoria. The room was well equipped for full preparing meals. The location was close to The wonderful Royal B.C. Museum and the Harbour, but also across from a large urban park that led to wonderful sea views!.
The location is amazing - right next to the Royal BC Museum, Parliament and the Inner Harbour. The rooms have been nicely renovated and the kitchenette was a nice addition. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. I was very happy with the value for the price I paid.
Amazing location, great price, kitchenette was nice to have, and very nicely renovated. Beautiful place to stay. Short walk to everything at the harbour and downtown Victoria. We will definitely stay here again, and have recommended it to others already.
lovely spot incredible value for money directly across from Beacon Hill Park full of Birds, Bald Eagles and far end of park borders ocean, easy walking and incredible flowers, right next to Museum with Totem poles easy walking everywhere staff were great.
it ticked all our boxes, this is the second year running we have stayed, the fact it is located 2 minutes walk from the bus depot meant everything to us.faultless in my opinion,we are just home and we will be back again next year.thanks all at Helms Inn.
Everything. Great location, great price, clean updated room. Wonderful staff they went out of their way to make sure we could check in early, since we had been traveling with small children. Only wished we could have stayed longer.
Big room. Excellent value. Newly renovated. Great location.
Would be a great place to stay long-term with the full fridge and mini-kitchen. I don't think there are any other hotels in Victoria where you could get this value.
I liked everything about it; staff were friendly, courteous and helpful; location excellent - very close to the park, to the Museum of Natural History, to the inner harbour and to downtown; room very quiet and very clean.
We especially liked the location and the access to bus stops, restaurants, and inner harbor activities. The lobby is small, but has nice features such as coffee, tea, books, computer access, plus an outside patio area.
the hotel was extremely comfortable. Having a kitchen made it very easy and relaxing for breakfast.
the town of Victoria was fantastic as was the hotel location at beacon Hill park.
Free internet was helpful.
The location was perfect for all areas of Victoria. The staff was pleasant. This is perfect for an extended stay. The kitchen had everything you would need. Older building, but beautifully updated rooms.
Location, quiet but close to Royal B.C. Museum, as well as Parliament House. Reasonable price in slow season. Pretty well-equipped kitchen. Coffee/tea time in the afternoon for guests to relax and mingle.
King suite with kitchen and separate bedroom was very nice. Young woman at the front desk (Victoria I think her name is) was very helpful and pleasant. Not our first stay here and won't be our last.
Location next to the park and very near the harbour and shops.
Lovely room with kitchen and lounge. Very clean and nicely decorated. TV in lounge and bedroom. Large comfortable bed. Nice bathroom.
We stayed in the Mount Royale building in a king studio. Very clean and comfortable and recently updated. Wonderful location within walking distance to city, park and ocean. Highly recommend.
Location was excellent. Most everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. Beautiful facilities with a furnished kitchen was a plus. The staff was most helpful and friendly.
The location is perfect, close enough to walk to all the attractions. The room was very clean and spacious. The staff very helpful and friendly. Great value. We will stay here again.
Really good room: large with a full kitchen; comfortable bed; very clean and tidy. Friendly / helpful staff. Location close to downtown, opposite Beacon Park. Large car-park. Good value.
Great location, outstanding value, rooom was in perfect condition (clean/new furnishings), kitchenette was great, small patio area outside was nice. We'll definately stay here again.
Helm's Inn has become a regular stop for us when we race sailboats in the Swiftsure Lightship Classic! It's a great value, and close to the Inner Harbor without being too costly.
We liked the size of the room and the inclusion's such as the kitchen and the dining area.
It was close to everything and warm and inviting.
Will definitely reccomend to others.
Very close to bus station (we were travelling by bus) museum and government buildings. Short walk from waterfront. Coffee and tea available in lobby and free usage of computer.
Loved the facilities. A diamond in the rough and great heritage features. Loved having the full kitchen facilities and the room we had was terrific. We will definitely be back.
Budget friendly, great location to downtown. Staff were friendly and helpful, internet access good.
The rooms are older and basic but very clean. Would absolutely stay again.
Close to central Victoria & attractions, but away from the busy
part. Separate sitting room/kitchen from bedroom. Free coffee in
lobby. Great water pressure in shower.
it is well located and good value for money. Reasonably priced, updated recently, kitchenette was very adequate, close to Beacon Hill Park, inner harbor, Empress, museum,.
That I was able to have a kitchenette and cook my own meals and save $$ on food.
The close proximity to downtown.
Being able to walk in nature just across the street.
Hi I thought the friendliness of staff very great and level of service
excellent. We have stayed here many times and are always pleased with
staff and location.

the location is good and it is easy to find. There is a kitchen inside the room which can save us money for meals. The price for the room is reasonable.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was much nicer than I expected for the price.Very comfortable.Excellent location, close to everything.
Very clean, very old building nicely renovated rooms. We had a king suite which was large with a very comfortable bed and adequately supplied kitchen.
+ Excellent room
+ Mattress was perfect, not too soft and not too hard.
+ Kitchen in room.
+ Locatio, close to the harbour, museum, Empress Hotel.
Great location very close to downtown Victoria, with room very spacious and incorporated a well appointed kitchen. Excellent value for money.
Loved the location, the room and the staff. Very close to the heart of the city, but far enough away to avoid the noise and congestion.
Good location, great value, good parking, nice vibe, big room, free internet, windows that open, good work space, nice kitchenette.
I loved the location, the quiet, and the friendly helpful staff. I will go back again next year.
Diana: geriatric solo traveler.
We loved the location! The rooms were nice and roomy. The staff was friendly and helpful! It was quiet yet close to everything.
Our room was on the third floor (second floor above street level) in the main building and there was no lift/elevator (we didn't realise this until after we had checked in). We had no problem with the stairs on a day to day basis but it was difficult dragging heavy luggage up and down on arrival/departure.
The fridge in my room is kind of noisy.
The bathroom was small but adequate.
I only have good things to say.
It's a busy street and the traffic can be a bit noisy, but you get used to that fairly quickly.
Very few....we didnt know there was no elevator but we were only on the
2nd floor....maybe the staff could offer to help you with your luggage
when they see your age.
We couldn't stay longer!.
The fridge was pretty noisy.
nothing comes to mind.
Room could have used a bit of a deep clean - lots of dust around the baseboards. All the important stuff was clean, however (sheets, kitchen, bathroom).
The noise of the street prevented us from opening our window at night.
No elevator.
Can't think of a thing.
Very little! No breakfast but plenty of local cafes.
Building exterior is a little dated.
While I am sure the problem was taken care of soon after we left, the shower control cover was very loose and possibly leaking water into the wall....
There was nothing
to dislike.
Parking was tight but they have a great solution for it.
Parking is a bit tight....often no spaces when returning later in the afternoon. Would recommend the short walk to downtown and leave the car parked.
Daily parking fee (looked at other hotels that had free parking) but
appreciated that we could drive in/out.
able to hear tv in next room, missing towel bar.
Not able to open a window for fresh air.
We were in lower level room that had a step up to the washroom, we
managed alright, but may be a hazard for elderly people . We found the
parking very tight this time, as the hotel was full and larger
vehicles in lot.
Check in was a bit late, 4pm, but we could store our bags so that wasn't really a problem.
on busy bus routes;
old & noisy air conditioner.
The renovation of the room is a bit old.
Parking was a bit tight but it is in the downdown area of a city.
3 floors no elevator so seniors need to be warned.
Location excellent. For close to sights but a noisy 3way road so better if request back of building.
No lift.
We were on the third floor and with no elevator, had to carry our luggage up. Not such a big deal, though.
