What is there to say about the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac. The place is pure luxury and is a tourist attraction in it's own right!!! Of course you pay for the privilege of staying there but l had to do it once and now l have every intention of doing it again. Staff are magnificent....they should all take a bow!! There were renovations going on whilst we stayed there and some scaffolding over our window (inevitable in an old building which must be maintained) but they kindly gave us a complie.

Frontenac's location is perfect! Everything you'll want to visit in Vieux Québec can be accessed on foot. The staff are really friendly and sensitive to the needs of guests. It is a wonderful hotel. The choices of "best describes" words above are inadequate for describing this place insofar as one really needs to be able to chose more than one. Situated on the 14th Floor, from checking in to checking out the whole experience was superb. The staff were most obliging and accommodating, would return in a heartbeat. The Location was fantastic! Right in the old town, walk to everything. The buildings were beautiful, really stood out in a city of a lot of wonderful architecture. The receptionist at the front desk was so friendly. Our granddaughter who is 6 absoutlutly loved the chateau. Doris at the front desk just made her stay wonderful.. No need to mention that the deco of the hotel is extravagant and glamorous. The inside of the room is a bit old fashioned but it is still clean and comfortable. My room had 5 windows and one faced the river. The others overlooked the square with street musicians and horse-drawn carriges. Bed was very comfortable. Architecture is beautiful and it's in the center of everything. Room was comfortable and reasonably insulated from outside noise. Food was excellent. We really enjoyed the location of the hotel as well as the fully renovated room with a St-Lawrence River view... Everything was perfect. Everything from my room (5175) to the staff, concierge, room service, etc. I will never stay anywhere else when in Quebec. The gold level service was excellent. They weren't described clearly and added quite a lot to the overall bill. The fact that we didn"t have a big choice of dining options. Pity that Wifi and breakfast are not included. I only know that I have to pay 50$ more a seaside room as I checked in. It is a bit disappointing. And I was surprised that I was charged for the wine even I didnt drink it just because I picked it up to take a picture. But anyway, the staff was very polite and friendly when I reported the case to them. Rug needed shampooing. Tub finish was peeling and some mildew on the caulking. AC unit was quite loud. Nothing is included, you have to pay extra (a lot extra) for parking, breakfast, and Internet access. Parking was quite expensive. wish there was a bigger lobby with reading desks etc. like the Royal York in Toronto, but this is a minor observation. We did not experience anything negative during our stay. Tired appearing room. Understandably the room was fairly small. We couldn't see the dining room, Larry was in as a teen scout years ago. This was an old memory trip for him and a luxury-fun time for me. No fridge facility and door key requires validation daily. room had no city or river view, best to ask for one and pay the extra in my opinion. Very rude male bar staff. Would not allow a last call drink for a large group of us. I think they forgot who is the paying customer. Lot of confused staff at valet. The dinner buffet was excellent but pricey. There are several restaurants offering equal quality at better pricing within 100 meters of the hotel. I had marked just 'good' to part of question #2, because of ongoing construction which shut off part of the hotel at the ground floor. But not enough to hamper our access to this beautiful hotel. The rooms are often overpriced, it would not be so bad if breakfast was included. Adjusting the temperature control on the heating unit did nothing. nothing specific. experience was good. No bar or coffe snack area in hotel had to leave premises had bad weather so it was a hassle tried to go to bar twice for light fare but were told to leave our children were 17 & 14 so not allowed. Hotel charges for Wifi, it is so ridiculous when it is free even in Motel! Nowadays wifi is like air & you have to pay for the air when you already paid for stay ! No complimentary water, slipper, I don't feel stay in 5 star when I see this ridiculous stuff. Fairmont spoils their name by saving on such minor stuffs. No covered entry. Pouring rain when we arrived. We both got soaked. Our room was the smallest room we have stayed in in over 45 years of travel including another Fairmont Chateau. Bathroom was ridiculously small. RM 8269. We will not return to this hotel although this was our second stay at the Frontenac in the last 10 years. A bit over posh.....for the money we paid we expected newer appliances in the room....But thats a minor complaint... Under renovation Strong paint odor Only one access into lobby. Expensive drinks on the patio. Due to very bad weather, we found ourselves spending a lot of time in hotel. Apart from the swimming pool there was nothing to do for children . This is Not a Family friendly hotel would not recommend it to anyone with children!. The washroom not compatible with the room, Quite small. For the price, breakfast should be included!. Nothing. Price. $14 a day for Internet and $32 to park the car a day was a bit excessive.
