The location for our need to walk about the city. The breakfast, fruit plates in the evening and especially the lovely dessert...what a pleasant surprise. The host,hostess in the lounge were very friendly and helpful... the room was comfortable, clean. The location and staff were excellent. The hotel is above the train station and there is an underground tunnel to the subway (Metro) so getting to the hotel and going places in Montreal is easy.

I also thought the location of the hotel was great, with the shops and train right beneath us. I love traveling at all fairmont a. They are always the best located and they are very professional and treat you with class. I love feeling special and like I'm well taken care of. I really loved the fact it was at the train station and near subways! I was able to go around without the need of a car!!!! It was clean and friendly!. friendly staff before I got there and after checking in. Very nicely decorated clean room. Convenient to train and shopping. The room was very small. The attitude of the hostess on the desk in the Montrealais.!. I had requested a non-smoking room and the room smelled of smoke. The bathroom, in particular, had a strong cigarette odour the entire stay. When I arrived I had to wait for 15 minutes for some one to ask me why I am even there (as a matter of fact I went and started asking what will I do with the bag and the car) room wasn't even ready (around 3:30 pm) The rooms are quite small (I know it's downtown) but I've been to the Sheraton across the street at least 10 times the rooms where much bigger. The first room I was given was much too noisy (giving onto Mansfield). The staff managed to find a quieter - though smaller - room for the rest of my stay. The buffet breakfast is not very interesting compared to what I sampled at other downtown hotels the following mornings. Extra charges for wi fi, bag storage, bottle water in room ( $8.50) Tip enrole in presidents club (free of charge) and wi fi apparently then free. Keep in contact with hotel. I asked for double beds on letsbookhotel.com. When I got to the hotel, they told me I had booked a queen bed and there were no longer any double beds available. N/A. My spouse has a phobia of spiders and I and to remove two webs from the room. If you needed wi-fi you had to pay which is ridiculous in 2013.Price. the first staff I met was rude, while helping us and stopped to help someone else totally disregarding us. cabs fighting outside of the hotel over a fare. I know you have control over that but it really detracts from the experience…. the pool/whirpool/steam room is very dated and needs updated. had to change elevators to get to the pool/exercise. The valet parking for the price should enable us to leave and pickup our vehicle at the main entrance. Lots of walking to reach the current valet parking. Situation disappointing. soup (chowder)was much too salty. all was good. Air Condishioning was not good. 30 degree weather and not a comfortable room temperature. Way too hot. The room was clearly in the shabbiest part of the hotel. The bathroom ventilation did not work, and in fact it seemed to be bringing smells from the bathrooms of adjacent suites into our bathroom. This was a disappointing and disgusting experience. I can't believe that I experienced this in a Fairmont hotel. Room is old, toilet very small and bed not to comfortable. the elevator kept us awake a fair amount of the night rooms were not thoroughly cleaned, dust accumulation, oily finger prints on furniture etc. The room allotted was behind the elevator with a lot of noise of the elevator going up and down the whole night. Could not sleep whole night. Not enough electrical sockets for charging gadgets. Will never stay there again. Very high charge to use wifi. The carpet of the corridor outside of my room was filthy.Nothing solved even I had told the front desk.The TV cabinet was covered with dush all over.Even a empty plastic bottle was found behinde the beside table.It was a terrible experience of this lodging. I disliked the undrinkable tap water, the chipped bathtub, the old dirty bathroom floor. The heat that couldn't be turned off. The poor service at dinner, the overpriced breakfast buffet. The lack of instructions on how to disable the alarm clock that was set for 630 am. The hotel was overpriced and not nice. I would never recommend it. Very poor water pool & sauna Price/value is too high. Skittle pricey.
