Nessebar (previously known as Mesembria (Greek: Μεσημβρια, Mesimvria) and before that as Menebria, is an ancient city on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. The town extends over a small rocky peninsula. It lies 37 km north-east of Bourgas, 100 km from the sea capital of Bulgaria Varna and 430 km from the capital Sofia.
