The rooms have a wonderful view to the golf, are clean and spacious. The bar and the restaurant are modern and offer a diversified menu. Being at the sea front you can stroll along the coast, visit the castle of the Romanian Queen Maria, many restaurants are at reach. The personnel is helpful and friendly. A small parking place is right next to the hotel, probably not big enough in high season.
all reviews » We were in Balchik to visit the botanical gardens. The hotel Selena worked just fine for us. The accommodations were just so-so but they were what we expected for the price. Everything was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant and It was just fine including from Peter, the server. 1.the hotel has a beautiful sea view, is located in the center of the city and only 15 minutes walk from the Botanical Garden and the Castle of the Queen Mary of Romania. 2.the hotel staff is ok 3.the rooms are pretty large with modern furniture. The hotel is located on the seafront and has a great view over the harbour. The staff is very friendly and ready to help you with any information. The rooms are clean and the studios have kitchenette. The rooms rates are fair for the conditions. Relatively new hotel with some sparing almost completed (eg access ladder upstairs). Excellent cleaning and comfort. The staff are friendly. The restaurant with terrace offers a diversified menu. I liked the fact that even if we arrived at the hotel after midnight we had no problem with the check-in. The room was large and the bed big enough for three persons (2 + 1 children). I also appreciated the air conditioning which was very efficient and quiet. The hotel does not have a lift or someone to help you carry your luggage. The reception area is strange, small and behind the bar zone. There is no entrance from the street, only from the sea front. The location is a bit tricky. If you are using google maps and just put in the hotel name you end up far away. Use the address and you are brought to the back of the hotel (not the beach walk) and the entrance is just down the steps. Parking is also located there next to the hotel. In one room the sink was leaking. Parking can be a problem especially in busy periods. I had trouble paying by card, we finally paid cash. The fact that we couldn't book the room with breakfast included. In one room the sink was leaking. No tea / coffee facilities in room .... breakfast a little late at 8.30 earliest .....both of these regarding we were leaving for World Golf Champs for 7.30am start ..... and always good to be able to have tea at 4am if you wake up to the sound of waves and gulls. Not so bad. Weak and unstable internet connection on the second floor Small rooms. The third bed is for kids only, very small. Only one towel for the third room occupant. Breakfast is available only after 8.30am. nothing. no heting in the cold season. Overally, the restaurant is the only bad thing about the hotel due to rather slow-serving and the need of actually getting the waiters attention for them to come and "serve" you correctly. What we encountered one day was also that we had to wait 30 minutes for a pizza, which, in the end, was brought cold. Thus, we don't recommend eating at the hotel's restaurant. One waiter at the restaurant was very rude, and then also came up with an inflated bill. The floor of the room was not so clean. There was a misunderstanding with the check out hour. In the paper we print from booking the check out interval was 12:00-13:00, but the receptionist lady told us we would had to leave until 12.00.
