I loved my stay at Mirador Rio Hotel. The staff is awesome. Very corteous and friendly. Specil kudos to Thiago and staff at front desk. Great location; three blocks from the beach if you ae traveling under a budget. Breakfast is great! You can't miss their Pao de Queijo! (cheese balls!) Waiters also rock! and Ton, bar tender is a Carioca-Nordeste character! Also athousand thanks to Monica who helped us change our reservation!.
all reviews » I was there for carnival. The Hotel is about 10 min walk from the beach, could have been closer but cant complain weather was really good. The reception staff was very helpful in getting information of stuff happening in the city. Overall a pleasant stay. the staff was excellent, traveling from the US was a chanllange but the staff knew English which helped with tickets to the Carnaval and other tours. The rooms were clean and neat. The rooftop swimming pool with a bar provides nice wiev over Copacabana district and also on the Jesus statue. The room is spacious, practically equiped, internet was OK. The location - close to the metro, major bus routes, Copacabana beach, a variety of restaurants and shopping. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. Loved the pool, the small, but great gym and the size of the room, the super nice man in the bar on the 15th floor, the possibility for late check out!. Location, good facilities. Swimming pool on the 15th floor was a good attraction and the pool side was a great place to rest. good location, very helpful and caring staff plus faultless hygiene. Superb breakfast buffet. The location was good for that it was away from the main shopping area but still only 7 minutes walk to it. It is about 12 minutes or less to Copacabana beach as well. From this hotel a taxi to the international airport cost us 80 reais so it was pretty decent. Had a nice view of Christ the redeemer from our window and the favelas lining the mountains and that was a joy to see. The hotel's location is good. It's close to the beach, restaurants and moreover there is a supermarket nearby. I liked the breakfast served in the morning. A lot of different types of fresh fruit was available. Key positive thing that's it's in Copacabana area and that's about it. not so far from cobacabana street. breakfast, verz big rooms. The location. Air condition is a little noisy, so is the street during rush hours. The beds were low to the floor. The price was a bit higher, but still much cheaper that similar hotels around. Copacabana is expensive location. The wifi connection was at best intermittent. Great in the lobby but useless in my room if I wanted to watch a movie or connect with my family in the privacy of my room. This hotel seems to cater to a lot of business travelers so they have to fix this problem!. Bad wifi in the room, some of the staff was not that nice (but many was super friendly!) and the room service food could have been better... Staff did not look friendly and spoke little English. Fortunately I had my son with me, joining me from Rio, who spoke fluent Portuguese. Wifi was expernsive, no iron in the rooms , so I had to pay for irroning each time I needed a shirt ironed. We had a lot of issues with the elevator. Also, the hotel was too noisy we could hear the traffic from our room, the toilets from the room above/below... The staff weren't very warm but they were still helpful. They could try being a bit more genuine in helping travellers. Also, the showers were a little old though manageable. Room was fairly small so was not entirely convinced that it was value for money. This hotel needs maintenance. The elevator is very slow. I would consider this a 3 star hotel NOT a four. The extras and fine details missing. For a deluxe room. We had no Kleenex, no face towels, no microwave although there was a refrigerator. We paid over 2k. Hotel food too high. We ate out for 14 days. Little bit too low standard like for 4 star hotel. Old style safe lock collected from reception wasn't easy to use sometimes. Too much noise in the early morning, you can hear the other people from another room and also hear everytime that someone flushed the WC. The wifi somewhat unstable. Breakfast quality regular. Plenty of ants in our room including some bad smell in the room caused by most likely bad water tubes. We even got robbed by room keeping, although they managed to solve this thing in a way it's still not acceptable that they are barely speaking English in 4 star hotel, which this place definetely isn't by European standarts. Old fashion room decor. Old fashion wc. Loud air condation. only 1 lift working . a bit overpriced for the quality, equipment a bit out dated, definitely not 4*, 2,5* would say. First of all, the room had a terrible smell, like it has been closed for a long time. Second the air conditioning didn't work properly and the staff wasn't really nice. Noisy hotel due of the lift, road and air conditioning. It's not 4 star.
