Was great to have English speaking receptionists and that they understood straight away any issues we had..which were only a couple. The beds were really comfortable (which I knew the make, could do with one at home) Breakfast was the 'bees knees' excellent setup for the day ahead. The porters were always willing to help and they always had a smile for you. Our room was large and had air con and TV. and fridge. I really would recommend this hotel to anyone who has the chance to visit lovely Rio.
all reviews » We were just 5 minutes walk from the Copacabana beach, also near to Sugar Loaf, a lot of taxis to get anywhere in Rio. Even in the morning rush hour the transfer to the airport took only some 20 minutes. We had a very big and comfortable room with two(!) TV screens, one big table to sit around and to eat, and a smaller one with ratan "sofa" to enjoy e.g. a coffee or drink, i. e. very unusual and luxury for that price! Helpful staff at the reception, with bell-boy. Very good breakfast. Very good. We really liked the hotel. It's not a four star but it was perfect for us. Rooms cleaned every day reception staff very helpful room to shower as we had a late flight. One block from the beach Our room was very big but we saw some other Rooms that were tiny. We were able to get wifi in our room but it was a bit sketchy at times. I and my friends have very much enjoyed our stay at the Acapulco. In addition to the high level of facilities, efficient staff & excellent location, we have in particular liked the flexibility of the staff regarding check in & check out. Highly recommended , very good value for money. The hotel is very well located,just one block away from Copacabana beach and very close to many car agencies (very useful if you need to rent a car). Our room was very clean and breakfasts were very complete. Parking was for free!!!! Good price for the given service. the hotel is very close to the beach and to other tourist areas. the night staff was very helpful and friendly, the porters walked us to a different restaurant at night when we asked suggestions for dinner. I would have been nice to have coffee facilities in the room and a room with a better view than the back yard. We had no problems. Just to mention one small thing: as the hotel is near to the main Copacabana street, it was impossible to let the windows open in the night, too loud - Rio does not sleep, at least at Copacabana not :). We stayed in room 1010 which looked out on to the road and it was a bit noisy from all the noise outside but it did not bother us to much. I made the reservation for our group. I have reserved 3 rooms (one for my wife & myself & 2 others for friends). At the check out I was surprised to realize that I have been charged for all 3 rooms, although our friends have obviously been present at check in & at checl out. A swimming pool or other leasure services would be great though the lack of these didn´t matter so much for us. Some of the day staff were not as friendly or as helpful as the night staff, I'llgive the day staff an excellent rate and day staff a fair. Bed was hard. Nighttime construction nearby was disruptive. I checked in at 2 pm (the advertised check in time) and my room wasn't ready, it took about 15 minutes for a room to become available. Everything was great!. Nothing. They charged one night before we arrived. Internet in room became a problem last couple of days in my room. View from the room was rather grim. Expensive for that quality. No wi-fi in the room. The staff at the entrance is very kind but don't speak fluent english. The location is central, but not as trendy as Ipanema. The elevators. But then no real problem. The prize was a bit expensive, though Rio is quite expensive in general. Wifi was not working in my room at the 8th floor. We liked everything. Room was a bit dated Security of the local area (Copacabana), but that's not the hotel's fault. Staff didnt have much recommendations. Room service really sucks. No restaurant in the building except for breakfast facilities. Bathroom not quite clean on arrival, very noisy, Internet often did not work. Staff was not friendly Do not take the tours from the hotel !!! Far from the Metro. Flaky Wi-Fi and no hard wire connection in the room as advertised. There are works in progress and the noise was terrible during the day. On the first day, we asked for a good restaurant nearby and the receptionist insisted on leading us there (to claim his share). Next day, we went to another restaurant next door without asking for help and the receptionist followed us (to claim his share)... If this is not your first stay in Brazil, you will be disappointed with the breakfast. Value for money poor Rooms and hotel layout old, only some cosmetic renovations in public areas.
