From the moment I arrived I felt special. That feeling remained throughout my all too short visit.The location, an easy walk from the train station, is central to everything Poperinge offers. I was there the two nights that the restaurant is closed, but other guests gave it high marks. The beds and chairs are very comfortable. The hot water in the shower came through immediately, quite unusual for a small hotel. I will return with my wife who is picky, but will love this hotel and it's owners.
all reviews » I was visiting with a friend & my son & stayed in the suite which was ideal with two rooms. The purpose of our trip was to visit the ww1 sites & the holel was in a lovely situation overlooking the town square with many other bars & restuarants available to relax after our visits. Hotel spotless & friendly well situated for the bus stop & train station with late trains from Eiper. The food served in the restuarnt was superb as was the service. Would certainly return. We stopped into the attached restaurant before checking in for a beer and luinch. The beer selection was great and the food was top notch. As we were finishing our meals, the owner brought our room key to our table and allowed us to check in at our leisure. We stayed in the 4 person suite which was nicely decorated, and contained the most comfortable beds I have slept in, in Europe. The location is excellent with several restaurants and bars within a two minute walk. The room overlooking the town square was excellent.The breakfast was wonderful. The hotel is also attached to a restaurant where we had a wonderful dinner. The prices were reasonable. The weather was not good so we could not use the outside facilities but they would be welcome on warm days. We had a lovely room on the top floor which opened out onto our own personal balcony with seating. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. The food in the restaurant was excellent though a bit pricey. Excellent location in charming Belgian town, being directly on the square. Good bar with amazing beer selection. Top class restaurant. I found nothing to dislike. We seamed to pick a week @ Easter when the hotel bar & restuarant were closed on the Tuesday & Wednesday. As was many other places in town which we put down to the cold start of the season & would assume that when all are open it is a delightful place to visit. Slightly narrow staircase, difficult with cases. Unfortunately we arrived on the day that a big concert/gig was being held in the market square was taking place so we had great difficulty reaching the hotel. The music was extremely loud so we could barely hear each other over our evening meal. Thankfully it did stop in time for a peaceful nights sleep. Everything was above expectations. liked everything.could not fault anything. Nothing. none. Nothing. hotel was locked when I arrived and to wait for a member of staff who came later to let me in. Nothing. hot duvets. Stairs -minor complaint!!. For the price I would have prefered more comfort and less design. Two nights of live concerts just outside the hotel. One night the clubland style Music DJ did not finish until 2am with the room vibrating all the time then we had to suffer a couple of hours of loud lorries cleaning the square. We would not have booked this hotel if we had been told about the concert.
