Heimgartl is perfectly located on the bank of the River Inn with a wonderful view over to the city on the other side. It is just 15 minutes walk from the old city, 20 minutes walk from the railway station. Bus F runs from the airport to the railway station every 15 minutes. Bus D from/to the station via the city passes the hotel (100m walk to the bus stop) and runs every 30 mins. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Their service was outstanding. all reviews » The room was very pretty, with a bay window overlooking the river. We had a table and two chairs so we were able to picnic in our room. There is a waterfall inbetween this hotel and the building next to it. It's very close to the Alpenzoo; a steep walk up with switchbacks through a lovely wooded area or a short drive to their parking lot. Road noise with the windows open is problematic, but practically disappears with windows shut. We enjoyed our night in watching German movies on the room's tv. Our host, Stephen, was simply outstanding. His English is strong, and he was most willing to help us with train logistics and local schedules for sightseeing and restaurants. He made the Heimgartl experience outstanding! Breakfast was excellent and well prepared. So pleased to greet Austria through the lens of the Heimgartl. We would definitely return. Ambiance - we had the room with the round section with views of the river; the staff - especially Stefan; the breakfast - well worth the 7 euros just for the homemade jams!!! Location - within walking distance of the old city and the zoo - and on Route 171, so easy to find (follow the zoo signs!). Free parking. The people there were very friendly. We phone them to tell that we were arriving out of the check-in hours, and they were very comprehensive and gave us a lot of facilities. Being a small hotel reception and the bar (for light snacks and drinks) is not available at all times - it seemed to close at 7pm. Access to the hotel rooms though is available at all times using a side door. Pricey and doesn't include breakfast, which is another 7 eur per person. You're stuck getting it though, because there is nothing to eat nearby. You have to walk 20 minutes to get to the old town / grocery stores. This hotel appears to attract inconsiderate families who arrive in the middle of the night and allow their children to run up and down the hallway screaming. Bring earplugs. Parking is a tight squeeze, and you may have to depend on other guests to move their car so you can get out. When we were in Innsbruck, the weather was unusally hot, and the hotel has no air conditioning. We had to keep the windows open, and the hotel is on a very busy street. I believe that every Innsbruckian owns a scooter!. Yes, there is traffic noise, but we could live with that - we adjusted the windows. The breakfast selection could be better. It was 7euro and wasn't bad... But since the hotel is a bit aside from everything, we wouldn't mind to pay more for a more decent selection. If possible in the future, they shall think of installing an elevator. Only 1 bathroom and no lift so we had to carry our luggage. nothing. First you should walk along the narrow side of the road and then cross the pedestrian bridge where many hoboes sleep at night!!!
