Friendly and efficient staff. My late check-in from the airport was pleasantly and conveniently organised for entry and key pick-up! We were also walked through by Joanne after we arrived for our second stay to be shown easier access from outdoors to lower ground. Rooms were good and clean with coffee/tea facilities which provided our good start to the days were stayed. A BIG bonus was the pantry and laundry complete with an iron:) Would surely RETURN, when needed for a stay.
all reviews » The lady on reception was friendly and welcoming and we appreciated her knowledgeable of the area. The lodge has a lovely character, was very clean, up to date in design and comfortable. Its also central to the uni, a lively pocket of wonderful little restaurants and general shopping. Close proximity to public transport, restaurants, shopping centres and Racecourse. Friendly staff Undercover secure parking upon request. Room rate (special) of $97 Spacious courtyard Double glazed windows Clean, fresh smelling room. Beautiful historic building with large rooms in handy location. Next to lots of good shops, restaurants and a hospital. Walking distance to Coogee. 20 mins bus down town and not far from airport. The front of office staff were most helpful and accommodating. Location was excellent for transport and shopping for meals. The room was spotless but a microwave would be a nice addition. Was in the basement but not bother as I needed somewhere near the airport without paying too much. I had a broken leg and was on crutches and reception changed me from a 1st story room to ground floor. that great. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The tea,coffee and amenities were more adequate for my purposes. Comfortable, affordable and in a generally convenient spot. It was a clean, spacious room with a TV included. Location convenient, heritage style, clean, nice bedding linen, price average ( stayed earlier for net $100 I think). To be honest I did not like anything in this hotel and although I had booked this hotel 2 months before my travel from Europe to Sydney, I checked out 2 hours after I checked in. Noises of buses, ambulances Noise of creaking staircase and people walking above. Shower needs new grouting. No microwave in the room. A little bit gloomy down there but hey! it was night. For some strange reason the TV in our room did not receive ABC Channels, very annoying. Although staff tried to adjust, no ABC Channels came through. Cheap toilet paper!. Reserved car parking very cramped. Someone put a heavy bag on my boot and then dragged it onto their car scratching my duco. Nothing comes to mind. Nothing really. Rust on the steel door frame, paint peeling at entrance to our room, basement room noise from upstairs, Barley acknowledge when we checked out, hard to park car. No hairdryer in room. The shower screen leaked and allowed water to flood on the bathroom floor. having a microwave in the room would be an excellent addition. steep stairs not good for people with knee injuries but great for everyone else. Major detraction is that Wi-fi is extremely slow. Pretty much unusable and ended up using 3g on my phone instead which is a major negative point for the accomodation. Would not go back because of that. Would have liked a tea towel for wiping dishes. Close proximity to busy roads meant that my heritage room was very noisy. Small bathroom. insufficient parking available, (but we did get one of the very limited parking spots as we requested when we booked). A bit noisy but that was expected. There was torrential rain in Sydney on my first nights stay and the room I had (Room 3) has an external door to the street which would have been perfect except that the floor was covered in water when I arrived late in the evening due to rain coming under the door. more information about parking facility would have help. If i was asked if I had a car and that I can park in the complex car park that would have help. stairs A problem with my elderly aunt and I was expecting A little more than just tea making facilities. no parking. Stayed in room1 for the first 2 nights, it smelt very musty, was not clean at all & no window to let in fresh air. a recommendation only not a critisism, in room 23 where i stayed i suggest you do some repairs on the shower facility. the shower rose leaks at the wall (not good) silastic recommended at between the base of the basin and the wall in the shower.the shower recess glass needs looking at(mould) the bathroom basin has mould. Bathroon clean but a little undersized. Front desk staff could have been more helpful - room not ready Check in 3.00pm, check out 10.00am is poor service. Couldn't get internet in our room, tv reception poor, Bathroom flooded into main room, Walls stained and rusted. Location was far from the city. Lots of traffic noise, cold and not enough bedclothes. I didn't like the fact that there was no toaster or Microwave in the room without going to the communal kitchen. The bathroom was very much in need of a really good clean and I would suggest they invest in a electric steamer for cleaning tile, grouting & in the corners of the shower doors etc. Sorry my standards are very high. The place looked good from outside.Inside was very dirty poorley maintained. The room was very dirty, lots of dust, especially under the bed and on the window sills. The Noise from the traffic was loud, as there is a hospital over the road and the main road outside is very busy!! Ambulance and police cars constant. Should be informed of the noise levels, we slept wiyh the tv on to drown the noise out!!. Hardly slept due to continual lard noise eminating from room above at all hours of the night- like furniture scraping along floor/ being moved. The room was dirty, you could find dust everywhere and there were several stains on the sheets. My room was located in the underground floor, so it was dark with a small window. Although it was supposed to have a wifi, it was so so slow that I could not get access to any webpage which means there was no internet. So if you need internet during your stay, I strongly recommend to not book a room in this place. The light in the bathroom was really dim.... 1st world complaint!.
