I like the style, frankly the ' class ' that The Carlyle and that the staff exude. I stayed many times at The Carlyle in the 1980's early 90s, indeed had my wedding there in 1998. I haven't been at all since for no negative reason but simply professionally I no longer visit NY, but expect to privately will do periodically going fwd. I liked it as

The general and unspoiled traditional ambience.

Nice medium sized hotel in a good location. This hotel has about 50
rooms on 7 floors, a small breakfast area on the ground floor and
fitness room with sauna and steam room in the basement. It is about a 5
minute walk from wall street subway station and 5 to 10 minutes from the
south street seaport and the Staten island ferry (a great free way to

Conveniently located right near the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge, it was a short walk to multiple Subway stations, the Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, Pace University, the 9/11 Memorial, and Battery Park. Location is great. Staff was very helpful. We were sent to a room initially that had been cleaned but then it looked like someone had come afterwards to shower and dress (used razor in shower, empty perfume bottle, towel and robe used, etc.) The staff was very apologetic, sent us to a better room and sent up a bottle of red wine. Waking up to a view of High Line Park and the Empire State Building. Comfortable bed, quiet despite being in the middle of the city and great shower. Very safe and secure place to stay in and the area was safe,close to the metro stations from which you can go uptown or downtown and a main line into JFK.
Apt had a full kitchen area,good wifi,flat screen tv,nice clean and roomy bathroom,plenty of storeage space.

Pretty much everything was great(see Question 2.)-loved the open terrace and the guest facilities on tenth floor. - they have a guest floor that lovley. coffee served all day and internet with amazing windows.

Hotel is 'as-expected' but 7 blocks from subway in a nothing-
special neighbourhood. We had a small issues with our booking through
the website : we booked 3, they expected 2 and although a bit stubborn
to start they fixed the problem. The gym is ok but the pool hours are
too short : 10 to 6pm

This is a good alternative to staying in downtown Manhattan. Coming from a small UK town the area was a bit of a culture shock.
Spacious appartment with everything you need for a short stay. Subway stop just around the corner so easy to get downtown in 15 to 20 mins. You can also walk to the Guggenheim in a similar time.
A couple of nice restaurants nearby and a supermarket if you want to eat in.

Everything! We especially loved the bunk room set up! We traveled with
two parents and two adult boys 18 & 20. We all wanted to stay in
the same room but a typical 2 double bed set up in most hotels would

Stayed there for my birthday and was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! The level of customer service was top notch! Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
