  The Hayes Valley Inn is located in a wonderfully eclectic neighborhood with a number of interesting shops and galleries. I much preferred my stay, here, to staying downtown in the Union Square area, where most of the "tourist' hotels are located. The price $67.00/night was unbelievable!   What a find! The breakfast and happy hour at Petite Auberge are the BEST we've ever experienced in a B & B/Boutique hotel. Very generous describes the staff and the food/wine. Our room was cozy (with gas fire place) and decorated so beautifully. Very comfy! We will definitely stay here when we return to S.F. For those, who don't like to socialize that much, don't worry, you can have plenty of privacy during - The location was only a few blocks from public transportation. The hotel is very nice and clean with amenities I did not see available at other hotels such as bottled water, coffee, tea, hot breakfast and cookies. It is an older building but well maintained.   We like the location and the hotel. Room was very nice. - We enjoyed our stay but thought it was a bit overpriced. The breakfast room is small but it is a federation home. The staff got in the way a bit when trying to make breakfast.
