I liked the fact that upon the disappointment of our initial room, we were given a much more comfortable and newly decorated option. The staff were very friendly, extremely helpful and obviously took pride in their jobs. The breakfast was really nice and the breakfast service given by the staff was excellent. Would definitely stay again in the newly decorated rooms.
Liked everything about the hotel.

Welcoming Receptionist and complimentary coffee on arrival. Also allowed us to park in car park before check in time whilst went off and did some shopping. Good location for walking into town.
Very cheerful and friendly staff, made us a cup of tea on arrival after we cycled up the hill from the train station and were ver accommodating, offering to lock our bikes in their drying room.
The hotel was lovely to stay in and the staff were so friendly and helpful. My daughter and l stayed for a long weekend and we will be coming back to the Merchant Hotel.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful with advice on where to dine and were happy to arrange extra heating for my room on a bitterly cold night.
The staff were really friendly, the breakfast was good and the rooms were nice and clean. The beds were really comfortable - like sleeping in a cloud!.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. The room was very clean. Hotel situation very convenient for town. Main public areas had been updated and looked great.
Lounge and bar area very comfortable. Breakfast good but confusion over times - one notice said 9.30 closing, one said 9.00.
Very good location both for Truro city and surrounding area.
Friendly helpful staff. Decent parking facilities. Room was fine & beds were comfortable. Mixer tap with showerhead but would have been nice to have been able to have a proper shower.
Best hotel breakfast I have had for ages. Good value for money Nd close to City Centre.
The room was warm and comfortable.
The receptionist was helpful.
The first room we were given was in very poor decorative condition and for the price I was paying I was extremely disappointed to have been given this room, we were not made aware upon our arrival that the hotel was under refurbishment and some rooms were yet to be re decorated. It was apparent that there were more recently decorated rooms were still available.
There is nothing I didnt like about your hotel.
shower space very small.
Cracked mug at breakfast and when we arrived down for breakfast we had to wait 10 minutes to get a cup of coffee as the filter was empty.
Bathroom shelf was dirty upon arrival.
Nothing!.
Top floor room was a bit too warm, no fan in room.
More hangers, hook on back of door for wet coats, but these are negligible niggles. We were very happy with our stay.
I think the breakfasts let them down.
Some of the staff were rude and unhelpful, Unless you are a businessman
with deep pockets, you are left feeling unwelcome!.
Nothing.
Lack of evening meal in hotel.
Located at the top of a hill, kind of a difficult walk down if you've not got great knees.
Wake-up calls did not always happen.
The long halls after a few drinks almost either got lost or entered wrong room, other than that absolutely smashing!!.
Our room was at the top of two flights of stairs....I had emailed comment that I was with my 82 year old mother and would have just appreciated return email notification of room location with no lift.
leaving!.
Not being made aware before arrival that dinner was no longer available
on the premises.
En-suite only had a bath, no shower although there was an attachment to allow hair washing etc. To be fair I had booked at the last minute and it was the only room left.
Nothing.
Bathroom dated and a bit worn but hotel is currently undergoing a complete refurb so the future looks good!.
Some rooms have no views from sky light windows.
uphill walk from town.
Room had recently had redecoration but no thought had been put into room layout. Many snagging problems. I am happy to discuss. This was mentioned to the receptionist but she did not make a note but advised that she would go to the room and have a look.
Sometimes in one room for breakfast, sometimes in another.
Double room was very small although we were told that we had been given an upgrade immediately on arrival !!!.
A bit of hill.
Refurbishment continues at the moment so no shower but a bath with jug for washing hair.
SIgning to the overflow car park is not clear.
Cooked breakfast (no vegetarian offered) and lack of window in room 14!.
Car park access a little awkward.
Room cold.
Nothing!.
nothing!.
Hotel is in the process of updating rooms so check before booking. Our room hadn't been updated therefore some aspects were not up to scratch. Mould in the bathroom. Top of the tap on sink came adrift. Bulb in bedside lamp not working. Could not identify hot/cold taps in shower. Expensive at £90 a night considering the above. I brought some of the above to the attention of the receptionist who said she would make notes and pass them on.
Bedroom very dirty - especially carpets and room not cleaned properly each day - dirty cups left, etc. Lots of traffic noise - our room would benefit from double glazing as traffic woke us up each morning.
Room on the small side but not bad. One of the bedside lights was not working which was annoying!.
Bathroom was tiny and only supplying one small bottle of shampoo and no shower soap for a family of 3 was irritating.
I am disabled but no-one offered to help with my luggage. The wet room did not drain very well, resulting the room being soaked for a long time. I had a ground floor room, but was at high risk of getting soaked to go for breakfast, as the walkway was not covered. Again no help offered, despite my stick.
