Excellent breakfast in lovely dining room overlooking South Bay. Spacious twin room, again with panoramic view over South Bay. All staff very friendly, a nice comfortable hotel. We went for 'county cricket' and if Leicestershire play Yorkshire at Scarborough next year, my friend and I would be pleased to return to the Esplanade Hotel. We had a twin bedded room which was very good with a lovely view over the bay and was spacious and clean.The rest of the hotel was well kept as far as we could see.The breakfasts were good and there was a good choice of food on offer. All the staff were helpful and courteous.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and well presented. The room was superb with dual aspect windows, one looking down the whole of Scarborough seafront and the other out to sea. It was very clean. The dining room for breakfast had a sea view. The staff, the views from the rooms the breakfast, the trouble reception staff went to to further our stay, the breakfast, lots of sitting areas, clean quiet lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff. Excellent room (119) overlooking the south bay. Evening meal very good and reasonable price. Lovely dining room again overlooking bay. Easy walk down into town. It was very good value. Breakfast was lovely. The views were spectacular. If it had been warmer sitting out on the roof terrace would have been an absolute pleasure. The staff were very plesant and friendly espcialy the lady who was in charge of the dining area[ breakfast] and the night porter who was on duty on friday the 29th. The bathroom looked like it was in the middle of being refurbished as the bath and shower were dated.Otherwise no problems. Nothing I didn't like. The bed was a bit soft for me but that is just personal preference. In need of redecoration. Limited parking. Probably a good reason for it, but non of the windows were double glazed - an environmental (not to mention cost) disaster. The breakfast was a little cold and not what I would have considering the price for 2 nites stay. For the money nothing really .hotel a bit tired in places,which many of these old Victorian seaside hotels are. We would definitely return. The decor's a little dated. more car spaces would be good for size of hotel but we managed to get parked so not A problem for us. Bird muck on my window Evening meal felt rushed. nothing I did not like>. Parking can be difficult near the hotel. Its not the hotels fault, parking in Scarborough. Zone area, short/long stay area, payment car parks.One side is zone the other side payment ?. It does affect the holiday. No wifi in the rooms. I could not turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom. Room was fine,but could do with a bit of a make-over,. As it was a very cold evening found there was insufficient heat sourse in the room. Floor was a little uneven in the room. The single room was a little bit tired. Exterior needs redecorating. Lack of parking facilities, hotel looks a bit scruffy from the outside, brickwork needs rendering. nothing. Parking the car was hard no spaces. the long walk up the steep steps back to the hotel at 2 in the morning!. Nothing particular. could not find fault. the old decor. Tried to get out of the car park on the day of departing. Unable to as coach was blocking exit. No one knew where the coach driver was nor had he left any contact details. This delayed our journey by 25 minutes. The shower was poor, a suggestion would be to have the reception team in uniform or a business suit to give a more profssional image although all were friendly enough. cooked breakfast was not freshly made - obviously pre cooked and reheated in microwave - not nice. waitress was very pleasant but spilled coffee down my trousers - glad they weren`t a pale colour. Cold poached eggs for breakfast. Bathroom had a problem with black mould otherwise couldn't fault the rooms. Telly kept going off but got it sorted. The room smelt dreadful and the whole hotel seemed very tired. The decor. Not enough parking area.
