There are a number of sailing schools within St Mawes, and the hotel can advise guests on boat hire and fishing trips.

Charming and unpretentious, I loved this hotel because it did not have the facilities or glamour of a boutique hotel but it had staff who cared , was very clean and comfortable and had a good old fashioned honesty about it which is so hard to find. Dinner was fresh , beautifully cooked and completely delicious. Room a bit on the small size but nice and clean. Even though our room was situated at the back, the little gate to the side of the building was so handy and you didn't have to go through the hotel to go outside. Great breakfast with friendly staff. Lovely comfy beds with cosy duvets. The shower was fantastic.

Beautifully restored room at the back of the hotel. The town is lovely with good restaurants and a nice beach. The staff were very friendly, the room was lovely and the food was good. The breakfast tables laid out at midday the previous day- it would have been lovely to have dinner in that room which had a delightful balcony with french windows leading out on to it and beautiful views..... Having breakfast there was heaven!. Though the en suite was beautifully done it could have been configured rather differently. The loo was far too close to the wash basin, bit of a squeeze if you are on the large side. Lack of professional meet & great staff. Ensuite shower would benefit from a shelf so guests don't have to bend over for the shampoo. Also no toilet roll holder. Towels not replaced when left on floor as instructed. Leaving. We paid extra for a room featuring 'harbour views' which was not worth the money, as this was just a view overlooking rooftops and the sea in the back, and this view was not really visible from the bed or anywhere you would spend time. No mirror in the actual bedroom, only one in the bathroom. No view (velux window only in room) and room quite small, so room overpriced. Staff seemed unfamiliar with menu, how to work in a hotel and manners. We ate there one night and kept having to go to the bar for our own drinks. The food was not up to par for the price of the hotel. Nothing. intermittent wifi very poor parking facility & expensive. Service a bit slow as limited staff numbers. Way overpriced for what it was and what was on offer. Noisy.
