This was our first trip to Edinburgh.
We were hoping to book a hotel closer to the city centre, but as ours was a last minute booking, we were limited for choice.
As it turned out, the Britannia was just perfect for us and we're now very pleased we chose it.

The price was nice and the sleep was good: these are main criteria for a good stay. The hotel itself is ugly, massive, chain-like, but people are okay, walking distance to town attractive, there is a park and a river road, so, I recommend this place!

it was clean, modern, lovely smell. the staff were very very friendly and helpful thank you sam and gang!!! which may a huge difference to our stay. - friendly and helpful staff and excellent service.

We were celedrating our 5th wedding anniversary so had a superior 4 poster bed room which was superb. Everything we wanted and more. We had fresh towels every day even though we didn;t ask for them. The bed was King Size and very comfy. Lovely complimentary bath, hair and body lotions. Good supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and shortbread.

Hotel itself is clean and well looked after, the furnishings look well kept and loving the Molton Brown goodies in the bathroom! Really good value for money

Channings was an outstanding hotel. I was extremely impressed with the staff who were very friendly and helpful. As we arrived early they upgraded our room to one which was available and it was amazing, the biggest bath I had ever seen. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. - Good quality. Good staff. Breakfast was good value - just over £8 for unlimited buffet (inc. cooked breakfast) and unlimited Costa coffee.
My bedroom was spacious and the bed was really comfortable.
Location good - 5-7 mins walk to Princes Street and 10-15 mins walk to Royal Mile/castle.
Haymarket train station 2 mins walk away - for trains to Glasgow (and to Waverley if

Murrayfield and Tynecastle about 20 mins away by foot, if you're catching some sport while in Edinburgh.

Fabulous hotel. Staff were great, everybody was friendly and polite and went out of their way. Location is super, 2 minutes walk from haymarket station and 15 walk into Edinburgh city centre. Buses stopped outside the hotel to go to Princes street if you didn't fancy the walk. Food was good, we had breakfast and was lovely with lots to choose from. Didn't eat there otherwise but saw the food and it looked very nice. Rooms and beds clean and comfy. Great hotel.

All the staff, especially reception were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel was ideally suited for my needs. - It was centrally located in the centre of Edinburgh. The prices were reasonable and the service was very good.

The corridors were quite dark but when my room door was open it was

The hotel was convenient to both old town and new town areas. Staff was lovely and super helpful. We ate at both restaurants downstairs and really enjoyed them. The room was not huge, but it was very nice, clean, and had a large bathroom with a large walk in shower. The airport shuttle is right across the street and there are always taxis waiting outside.

This hotel is like my view of an old hotel should be steeped in history and splendour. It was a pleasure the rooms are not modern although they do have the touches like the plasma tv and modern bathroom. Overall I would not change anything about the hotel it was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful and we enjoyed being in the surroundings of the old part of the hotel. It had character as well as having modern facilties. The location was not only ideally central it was also very picturesque being surrounded by the georgian buildings around the square. We look forward to our next stay. - Everything, service,

I'm on gluten free diet - had no problems whatsoever. The chef even amended the Valentine's Day menu in the Grill Room. All the staff were exceptionally helpful. The rooftop hyropool was wonderful. - The upgrade to our room was very comfortable and appreciated. The staff were all very helpfull and friendly.
