The location was great, just a stones throw from shops, theatre/bars/restaurants, Princes Street and other attractions. The hotel is near all the main shopping and attractions. The honesty bar is great and reflects well on the hotel. Breakfast was right out of the top drawer. 1st class break.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay!!! We came with a 4 month old, and they could not have been more accommodating! It was raining and they even lent us umbrellas for the day. We didhave one problem that when we first got our room it wasnt clean butthis was quickly rectified and we got a new room and a welcome pack.Only other problem was tv reception but I did not spend much timewatching tv anyway.

Location is perfect. They are installing tram lines in the street but it still has access if you are arriving by car or taxi. Its a short walk to Waverly Station and all main tourist attractions can be reached by foot if you like to walk.
Room was excellent, breakfast was great. Did not try the restaurant at night but menu looked good and fairly priced.
Staff were all very friendly and attentive.
A little bit pricey but for a stay during the Festival it was fairly priced compared to other optio

the room was superb, staff were more than helpful,especially the porter who looked after our luggage, plus whilst being unwell on my first night, I rang reception for some blankets and they brought them straight up to my room. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Was good value- room was warm and comfortable. Bathroom was v nice and had a bath which I was really pleased about as most value hotels just have shower cubicles. Made the most of this and this enhanced my stay.

Filiko kai exipiretiko prosopiko - The decor was great in the hotel. Was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. It felt tremendously homely and the bed was so comfortable. Went for the weekend ghost hunting and the hotel added to the ambience. The bath had jets in it and since Edinburgh is so hilly sorted out our weary legs. Would definately go

Some of the reviews I had read portrayed the hotel badly, I would say totally ignore this - it is a great hotel.

The Elder York Guest House is a lovely place to stay in Edinburgh! The location is excellent, walking distance to all attractions. There are road works going on, but these won't interrupt your stay and should be over soon. Paul and Deborah were excellent hosts - very friendly and informative. The room was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping was excellent. Room including breakfast was a real bonus. The hotel is in a quiet area but still only a short walk to city centre. I have already recommended staying at Abbey Hotel to my work colleagues.
