The staff were very friendly, easy-going, and helpful. And as Aussies travelling through Britain, it was the only place we found that had vegemite for the breakfast table!.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean- you get what you pay for! Good location, a short walk from the city centre.

The staff at the Ormonde were very helpful and friendly.
THe other guests were also sociable which made for a more relaxed and pleasant stay.

The Ormonde was well situated to walk into chester and well priced for friend groups to rest their head after a night out. It was clean and had good self catering facilities for those who want to make a brew or prepare some microwave meals before a night out! Staff were very helpful and friendly.

the shower next to me was out of order so I had to walk through the dining and reception area for a shower, although that's only a slight criticism, otherwise it was excellent.
For the price everything was fine : ).
It was very basic. There was no mirror or chair in our bedroom and no handle on the bathroom door. The toilet was not fixed to the wall so it rocked when you sat down. The shower head attachment also fell off the wall when I used the shower.

At first glance the dated decoration and badly finished DIY jobs did make a pair of girls wonder about cleanliness, although at closer inspection this wasn't the case! It certainly is not the place for a romantic break or somewhere you'd want to stay if you want to wallow in the pleasantries of a glamourous hotel.
It was MUCH too cold. Especially in the bathroom, there were no heat at all.

There was damp showing through on the ceiling. There wasn't even a glass/cup in the room to get any water. The room was really cold when I got there.
Poor decor and general cleanliness. The place needs a thorough clean from top to bottom and re decorating. We had room 4 on the ground floor which had cobwebs in the corner and a strip light over the bed which shook the bed when it was turned on. The bathroom was clean but a tile fell off the wall and when we told the receptionist she said there was bound to be a complaint! No -one cleaned it up! I would not stay there again as it was definitely very poor value for money.
We was a group of 6 and just finished the 3 peak challenge in 24hrs was desperatly needed a shower but none of them worked. The rooms needed a good clean and very smelly and needed lots of work.I paid 50 for my room but has signs up saying 40.

Guest house can be described as squeeky and creeky.
Infested. Place looks like it's never been cleaned. If you read this review and still decide to stay you deserve what you catch.
Parking difficult. Non ironed sheets, no bedside tables or bedside lights, no in room coffee / tea, very basic room, very tired decoration throughout, very basic cooked breakfast with loads of baked beans,.
Rooms very basic tea coffee facilities not in room. Damp aroma. Unprofessional. Poor breakfast facility tea coffee only no juice. Very noisey with other guests. Poor shower very weak n damp ensuit had t ask for towels n loo roll.
damp in both rooms, had to go to dining room to make cup of tes, sheets blood stained.. felt dirty.
Everything else. Don't stay at this hotel. I'm so lucky my wife decided not to travel with me as I'd be dead by now. I had to do a triathlon with no breakfast as I couldn't even get the piece of toast I paid £4 for.
No hot water. One towel provided lucky that I have my own. Smelt of cigarette smoke. No Hifi in room.
