Akuwaiseni Guest House is an old Melville renovated house, which has kept the original wooden floors and pressed ceilings, but has also given the interior a new sleek modern look. The furniture and interior design has a clean cut line to it with afro chic undertones. During your stay, you can enjoy the African sun while relaxing by the pool or patio.

Our 6 Double Neo Classic rooms with a definite minimal/ethnic flavor all with own bathrooms, plenty of cupboard space and with maid service every morning to clean your room. The rooms boast pure cotton linen, gowns, bath and pool towels as well as toiletries and hairdryers. Satelite TV, ceiling fans and gas heaters are available in each room. We have two self catering and self contained units, each unit has a fully equipped kitchen.

Every morning you will be informed what will be cooked for dinner. Please let us know by 12h00 whether you would be enjoying dinner with us or not. We have a dinner party or Barbeque every Saturday night which we would love you to be part of.

Information about the area

Melville's well known 7th street, where all the Restaurants, Bars, Shops and clubs are, will have a pedestrian street soon and that will be something to experience, and is walking distance from all Three Houses. We are close to the University and SABC.

Two Shopping centers within walking distance.
The New Melville Theater.
Night clubs and bars for all tastes open till late.
There is nature walks in the Melville Koppies.
Close to the CBD of Johannesburg and the artist’s hub of Newtown.
10 minutes drive from Rosebank and 20 minutes from Sandton City.
20 minutes from Gold Reef City Casino and 20 minutes to Monte Casino. Game drives on Warthog Game Farm which is only 45 minutes away from the house.

Travelling information

From O.R. Tambo international Airport:

Take the Johannesburg road and at Galoolys interchange you take the Durban / Alberton Road then turn left on Germiston Johannesburg Road Right over to Johannesburg till you get to Sandton and Pretoria. Remember to drive only 80 km per hour follow that road until you get to the Empire turn off turn left into Empire Road, follow Empire until you get to a T-Junction at the SABC studios. Turn right into Kingsway at the third set of traffic lights turn into University Street. Pass Mc Donald's on your left and keep on University Street which becomes Main Street. Carry on until you get to the 3rd set of traffic lights, keep to the right hand side of the road where the island is. Where the island stops, turn right into 6th Avenue. Go up the hill and go over the circle and the 3rd house on your left hand side is No 21, 6th Avenue.

If cancelled up to 30 days before date of arrival, 10 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, 25 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy

Children older than 12 years are welcome.
One child under 2 years stays free of charge in a baby cot.
There is no capacity for extra beds in the room.
