Located 5 km from central Bergen, this hostel is 200 metres from the Montana Bus Stop. It offers 2 fully equipped guest kitchens, a games room, along with free private parking and free gym access. Bergen Hostel Montana provides simple accommodation with either private or shared bathroom facilities. Some include a seating area and desk. A communal TV lounge with a fireplace and free Wi-Fi is available, as well as a garden with a patio, BBQ and views of Bergen. Montana Bergen Hostel also has vending machines and a guest computer. Bicycle rental is possible on site. Mount Ulriken, the tallest mountain in Bergen, is only 100 metres from the hostel. Flesland Airport is 16 km away, while a grocery store is within 2 minutes’ walk of the hostel.

First of all I loved the staff. Everybody, starting from the reception through the dining room and cleaning staff were friendly, smiling and caring. The location of the hotel was amazing. Watching he sun rise and sun set from the armchair of the living room was a life experience. I found the facilities in the kitchen very helpful, it made my stay home like and I could cut my costs on meals. I liked the cleanliness of the place. The bathrooms were nice place to use. Thank you HI Montana st.
όλα τα σχόλια » 1. breakfast - very nice buffet food including ham, bacon, fish, vegetables, toast, biscuit, milk, yogurt, cereals, caviar, cheese, fruit, orange juice and coffee, and etc. 2. staff - very kind and helpful - they prepared the breakfast take-away including sandwiches,strawberry jam and orange juice for me as i need to departure around 6:45am which is earlier than the breakfast time. although it was not the cheapest hostel we stayed in, it is a very nice hostel; the double rooms are quite small but ok; an amazing view from behind the hostel over the whole bay of Bergen!!! the kitchen is great equipped and you can use a BBQ on the terrace, where you get the charcoal provided; there is a bus stop close to the hotel and it's 15 minutes to the city center. The cheapest I've seen near Bergen. I was travelling with a car, so I appreciated free parking. Location is good if you are with a car: there is a nice view to Bergen and a trail to the mountain of Fløyen (see Fløibanen). Fair breakfast. WiFi was working in my room (single) - free. Complimentary coffee&cookies in the evening (unexpected). Guest kitchen. everything was very nice. Location is a bit remote, you have to go by bus from the city center but the location is beautiful - on top os a hill and you get a nice view of the city, especially in the night. Another good thing was the breakfast - really good and filling. All in all, it's a decent place with nice staff. Surprisingly good. Location was a bit tricky to find in brand new rented car GPS, instead had to rely on Google Maps (offline mode). Apart from that, everything was fine - breakfast was excellent. Staff were very helpful in helping to decide which fjords to see and how to best get there. Decent equipment inc. kitchen, Helpful staff (called our next Youth Hostel to book it for us), Great view over Bergen from the natural balcony just outside (Correctement équipée, personnel serviable, beau panorama sur Bergen depuis le balcon naturel de l'auberge). The employee at the front desk was very nice and friendly and went out of his way to help me out with finding a trip to the Fjords The place was very nice and clean and I really liked everything about it!!! Would definately recommend it to others. Our every year's choice for staying in Bergen. Clean, friendly, great breakfast, many facilities (kitchen, laundry, table tennis, bbq garden, living room,....). The "cookies & coffee" informal meeting was very pleasant surprise this year:-). Staffs are friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast. The hostel is located on the highest mountain in Bergen, that means you don't really need to take a ride on a cable car to enjoy the beautiful view of the city. This is absolutely great hostel for young (and not only for them) people. I can surely recommend to stay at Montana. We were looking for some cheap accommodation and we like what we got for our money. The very cooperative and friendly staff. Very Clean Rooms. The effort to recycle and inform about our responsibility to be respectful of the environment. The well equipped common kitchen. It is really comfortable place. Everyone is very friendly. There is very good combination of cost and quality. And! There is Ulrich not so far from Montana Hostel)). The hostel was quite clean with nice clean kitchen and we enjoyed our stayed there. Also the lady at the reception was quite helpful and pleasant. While not as closes to city center as others, the location can't be beat for views of the city and quiet location. Birdsong was the only noise. Convenient location, city center within walking distance, helpful staff, great vyvbor foods for breakfast, the cleanliness of the rooms. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was very good for a hostel. Free coffee and tea. It's easy to get to the city center by bus. Hostel was perfect, clean, comftable, nice area to hanging around, very good breakfast, would stay there again. Loved the atmosphere, loved that there were so many areas to gather and lounge. Breakfast was great too. The loncation is excellent but far from the city so it will be better if the guest come by car. Nice staff Hotel has a big kitchen, where you can cook almost everything. The buffet breakfast is excellent and plentiful, the staff are nice and the beds surprisingly comfortable. The room was for 4 people - a little cramped but I had nice roommates and felt happy there. Good location for a hike up Mt Ulrik and not too bad to get to and from the centre by bus. A very unique location though very far from city centre so have to catch the last bus so can't stay out late. Great for those who's visiting to go hiking. Positive points: good breakfast, there is a supermarket near, friendly staff, free wifi, quiet neighborhood. The view of the city from the hotel’s area is nice, and you can see the sunset. The hotel is close to the Mount Ulriken. - good location if you are driving - basic but clean and efficient - staff is there for you if you need them but not in your face - this is a backpacker's place not a hotel so be warned - quick and convenient wifi. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, also they organize events for the guests for entertainment. Free parking, good organization, the only cheap & good way to stay around Bergen. The bed was quite good and comfortable with table and chair which is also necessary to put ur stuff. I stayed in 18-bed mixed Dormitory room with double-deck beds. there are a lot of trips in the mountain nearby, there is a good kitchen in the hostel and a bus from the bus trminal (5 min from train staesion) to the hostel. More affordable than most options in Bergen, but that's not saying much at all. Clean. Nice view of the city from the back terrace area. I'm computer freak and I missed quicker wi-fi, but should beautifully located hostels be turned internet cafes. Forget about about my complaint !. N/A. Norway hotels are overpriced. That single was 56 euros, which is a little more expensive that one'd like to pay in Europe. In addition, you should bring your own linen and towels or rent for extra. Many of the guests are guys looking for a job in Bergen area (not a problem for me, though). Actually, nothing comes to mind. Everything was good few nights I stayed at this hostel. Not so cheap for a Youth Hostel that isn't central (well ok, this is Norway...;), Breakfast, though decent, is not in kvitåvatn Fjellstoge Youth Hostel's league! (Pas si bon marché pour une AJ - mais bon, c'est la Norvège...; Petit dèj correct mais ne rivalise pas avec celui de sa cousine de kvitåvatn Fjellstoge (Gausta) !). Some guests were a bit too loud on their internet phones while in the common areas. Perhaps a reminded to keep conversations quiet or to set an area aside for internet phone calls. It's a bit far from railway station. Wifi was spotty at best. The bathrooms, a double room there was no soap. We had a very small room with a bunk bed. Not a good choice for not young people. Its just to far away from the city centre. Takes 15 minutes with the bus. For some reason I did no t have hot water in shower, so I washed the kids and myself in a cold one (very healthy! :). For us locations was good since we travelled by car, but for pedestrians it may be difficult to get there. you have to take bus no.12 between city centre and Montana, single trip costs 29 kr. but it's easy to find the way and bus schedule is available online and at the reception. Far from city center, on a mountain. Mattress is too soft There is no shops opened near this accommodation. Need to buy food earlier in Bergen city. The fact that people are allowed to smoke right outside the main enterance and on patio outside dining hall. It reaked of smoke every time we entered and in the main hallway. It's a bit far away from city centre. The location is great for hiking, and only 15 away by bus to the city center. However, there is only one bus every 30mn and it cost 29kr. the wlan and computer is bad and expensive especially when you have to work or doing some business things. The room was small though it was comfortable. Not enough shower rooms. Liked it all. Unexpected way to the hostel. It's not good to go to the hostel on foot in the evening or night. nothing:). Poor directions to hostel on their website. Charged me in us dollars without asking me my preference and the machine charged me an extra 3%. The staff didn't even realize it when I pointed it out to them. wifi. The wi-fi connection is ridiculously bad and would put me off staying here again. It's something people rightfully expect nowadays and to have such poor provision while charging high prices is unacceptable. Also, I was unsure as to why there were two separate doors to two shower cubicles and no separation in between them in the changing area. It wouldn't hurt to put up a dividing wall to offer a little more privacy when having a shower. The breakfast was not very good; no cooked food. We booked a room for two people which was very small and had a bunkbed. The top bunk was very hard to access as the entire bed was railed including the area directly above the ladder so was a pain to get up and down and definitly a hazard to the less mobile. The bathroom had a permanent scent of smelly feet. The room was otherwise very clean. Very pricey for a hostel. Negative points: no free towel or sheet, there isn’t lockers. It is far from the central train station(40 min by foot, 15 min by bus). The shower is not private, it is in a room with two showers separated each other by a wall and the door of the room don’t close and you don’t have a private area between this two showers. It’s not a quiet hostel. - the mattress on the bed is dead uncomfortable and too thin - guess it's more a problem of Norway than the hostel but it's really not value for money. Structure was a bit old. Internet not working, but they're updating it so maybe you'll be luckier in the near future. The kitchen was ok, but I couldn't find some utensils such as knife to cut vegetables, cutting board, opener. The shared WCs were not clean. They put a washbasin in the room, so people use it in early morning disturbing others. There are not enough sockets to charge your electronic devices. The hostel is located too far from the city center, so you have to pay for the bus 29 NOK one way. Far from the city ( 20 min by bus). It's necessary to rent towels and sheets if you don't have your own, which costs as extra 70 KR per person. Add that into the bus fare to get up and back into town, and it is not as budget-friendly an option as I'd hoped.

Bed linen and towels are not included. You can rent them on site or bring your own. Please note that sleeping bags are not permitted. Children under 16 are not permitted to stay in the dormitory room. Reception opening hours from 1 November - 30 April: 07:00-23:00. If you expect to arrive after 22:00 during this time of the year, please inform Bergen Hostel Montana in advance. From 1 May - 31 October, the reception is open 24 hours a day.
