Set in a 400-year old listed building, this bed and breakfast offers bright rooms with free Wi-Fi. Guests can read a book in the living room which has a fireplace, library area, a DVD player and a large dining table. The whole bed and breakfast is at your disposal if booking both rooms. The rooms include box-spring beds and a seating area with a flat-screen TV. All have a modern bathroom with a hairdryer, and heated towel rails. One of the rooms offers a view of the 12th-century St. Piter Church. Boat hire and bike rental are available at De Thuiskamer. It is also possible to book sailing lessons. A picnic basket packed with a healthy lunch can be prepared on request. A freshly made breakfast, including home-made jams and local Friesland specialities, is served every morning. Guests can also enjoy a glass of wine from the special wine-menu by the fire or on the terrace in the summer. Leeuwarden is just 15 km from de Thuiskamer. Heerenveen and Sneek are about 20 km away. Grou-Jirnsum Railway Station is 1.6 km away.

The hostess was friendly and helpful. The location in the heart of Grouw, which is in the heart of the Friesland lake district, is great. The B&B is beautifully finished, with a lot of space for guests. A super breakfast with a lot of local specialties. The hospitality and attitude of the owner was beyond expectations together with rich breakfast she prepared for us. The place itself has central and convenient location, is beautifully renovated with all the cosiness and comfort we could wish for.
