The staff at Gion Maifukan could not have done enough to help us. They were attentive without being intrusive and after the first night moved us to a bigger room to accommodate the four of us.

Perfectly located in the middle of city. Near to restaurants, shopping, walking distance to Gion and temples. By taxi ( because it was very hot and humid in July) we went by taxi to a lot of marvelous sites. The hotel's location was great. It was in the Gion area, a few
blocks away from Gion's corner. In front of the hotel bikes are
available to rent which is very convenient to visit the shrines which
are far away. The hotel rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The
staff is attentive and breakfast is brought to your room, very
luxurious. -

Kei, the manager, is fantastic. She is welcoming, gave us great advise
on site seeing and timing, ensured our stay was enjoyable and our
experience was the best possible. She gave us a very personal touch that

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, they speak good english and will
help you find your way around with restaurant recommendations (all
good!) and places to visit and how to get there. Clean place, nice and
friendly atmosphere. The japanese style rooms seem to be bigger if you
have a choice (we booked late, our bad). A very enjoyable stay!

added to the experience, each night when the staff had laid out the
futon there would be a folded origami (new one every day!) beside the

Wow! Staying at Nissho Besso was one of the best hotel experiences
ever!! This top-end traditional Japanese ryokan dishes out luxury and
service like you could never imagine. From the origami and personalised
notes on my mattress in the evenings, to the amazing breakfasts
(different every morning) and stunning service levels ....always
provided with a smile. This great property will be a key reason for
returning to Kyoto as soon as possible.

Good location, very easy to walk to main shopping area and metro stations. The public bath is very good so we choose not to take bath in the bathroom of our rooms. We stayed three days and they managed three different breakfast courses, all of them very nice. Friendly frontdesk staff who can speak acceptable English. -
