Overlooking Matera’s Sasso Barisano, Fra I Sassi Residence is set in restored 17th-century buildings inside the Matera Sassi UNESCO site area. It offers a sun terrace and air-conditioned rooms with stone walls and views of the historical centre. Some rooms at the Sassi Residence are cut directly into the rock. All have a private bathroom and stone or parquet floors. A buffet breakfast is provided, including cappuccino or herbal tea, together with fruit and freshly made pastries. Free Wi-Fi access is available at reception. Matera Cathedral is 300 metres from the Fra I Sassi. A shuttle can be arranged from/to Bari Palese Airport, a 1-hour drive away. Guests can enjoy discounted rates at a nearby partner car park.

I have just left Fra I Sassi Residence where I stayed for 3 nights. The most useful and welcome reviews are those that provide the whole unvarnished truth. The accommodation exceeded my hopes. This is what you can expect: Accommodation - truly the cleanest rooms I have ever experienced. I stayed in an air conditioned one bedroom (studio setup) with a beautifully fitted bathroom, tastefully furnished bedroom and a comfortable queen sized bed. Breakfast is a selection of savoury and sweet - inc.
όλα τα σχόλια » Fra Sassi is situated in a perfect spot with a fantastic view of the Sassi area of Matera. From the B&B walking the main areas of the Sassi is easy and accessable. It is also only a short walk to the main piazza for people watching and shopping. Near by there are excellent restaurants. Domenico and Christina are perfect hosts, and their English is perfectly adequate to recommend restuarants, things to do and places to see. They both make their guests feel very welcome. My room was large and. The proprietor, Domenico, was outstanding. Always joyful and ready for a conversation! Nice location, close to some nice restaurants, but not in the hustle and bustle of things. (Free) Public Parking is very close-by and convenient. Terrific, unique room and fantastic, "cavernous" bathroom. HUGE bathtub! The breakfast was delicious with a large variety of items. Able to accommodate gluten-free clients upon request. A great place to stay - one of our top hotels of our 2 week visit to Puglia!. the room was amazing - was it a discotheque, a wine cellar or a nativity performance site ? HUGE and very comfortable with a sofa I had no time to enjoy ! overall venue fantastic and nice breakfast room ..... even in the Sassi centre this B&B 5* cave complex proved difficult to find with even locals making mistakes (was there a street name up ?) > I like this mystery, infinitely preferable to predictability. An excellent place to stay. well situated with a view of the town and the hill caves across the valley.Very clean and spacious appartment. Domenico and Cristina very attentive and knowledgable about Matera. Dominic ever drove me twice to the supermarket and gave advice on local produce and wine. We stayed 5 days and would have stayed longer if we had not had other fixed plans. Highly recommended. It was beautiful. I loved the fact that I had a large room, even though it had been cut in the rock. I felt like I was living with the Flinstones for a few days with all the modern cons. The breakfast, especially the 'tomato bread bake' was very tasty It's situated in a great location, just off Via Fiorentini, which is easy to locate after a day in the maze. Beautiful and clean rooms with an amazing view! We stayed in suite 5 , which was like a 2 bed flat. It was very impressive and so clean. The staff were very kind and courteous and you could tell they took great pride in their hotel. It was an easy walk to all sites and the breakfast was perfect. a wonderful place to stay!!! with the best view of Sassi, the bathroom is outstanding, ,better than 5~7star hotel,it's huge,full of facilities which u need!!! good location and breakfast^^ we love it!!! it's amazing!!!!. Excellent Room , bathroom a bit small but otherwise large and comfortable. Great balcony looking over the town. Owners really make us feel like at home. Very cosy, elegant room with an extraordinary view on Sassi and terasse. Amazing place within the "Sassi". Nice terrace for breakfast. Great bathroom with huge bath tub!. The owner who was very nice and helpful. And the incredible view !!!!. Large comfortable room, quite, good location, decent breakfast, wifi. nice room and bathroom in the sassi. nice breakfast for a B&B. location and beautiful view from the veranda,. Very nice people and room. Only one drawback, I ordered a taxi to take me to Matera Station to catch a train to Bari, however, because it was a National Holiday 25 April, I was informed by the driver that there were no trains running on the local FAL lines. Ended up having to take the taxi all the way to Bari at 65 Euro. No one's fault except probably my own, but just a warning to other visitors to Matera. This is rare, but I can't think of anything negative about this property... the noise of the underfloor air regulation + air conditioning machines - but hey ! you can't have everything (engineering is impressive !) staff pleasant - but somewhat half-hearted: disappointing but I guess they get bored with their clientele. Nothing. Parking could be an issue in the busy season. The room on top that we got, was small, and although the incredible view, it was very uncomfortable, as it only had one chair to sit on, and that was very uncomfortable, and the bed didn't have any headrest, so you couldn't sit in the bed.
