Excellent location right in the centre. A few minutes walk from the central station. Really good breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt, delicious rolls, scrambled egg, etc. Coffee brilliant.

Excellent location, very close to train station and many restaurants...just a few steps to the lovely lake area. It's close to shopping and sights, too, and if you're not too burdened with luggage, you can walk from the cruise center (we did, with 50-pound bags). Very clean hotel, friendly and helpful staff, nice bar. Our first stay an in Ibis

Room and bathroom clean - good breakfast - Staff very helpful. Location central -very easy access to both U bahn and S bahn as well as Hbf. Although single room was compact it contained facilities to a good standard. Breakfast excellent.

The standard of the hotel is very high, across the board. We received a pleasant welcome and were escorted to our brand new, spotless room (of 5 star standard) where we spent two relaxing days. The walk from the train station does involve passing by several "exotic" shops and streetwalkers, but this is germany, and any hotel near to a railway station is going to involve an interesting walk.

Very clean, helpful staff, terrific breakfast, and location --- just outside the busy downtown core but within walking distance of public transit. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Also, the hotel was right on the lake, just a few steps away from several lakeside restaurants (which had indoor and outdoor seating). Excellent.We stayed in this hotel only for one night , but it is suffice to say that we felt homey. Commodious , cleanness of the rooms , very good breakfest. If we will come again to the Hamburg , we will prefer to stay in this hotel. Thanks for all staff so much ! - Very helpful and friendly front desk staff. Restaurant was good.

The Alster Hof was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Hamburg. The hotel is located close to downtown shopping, the staff are very friendly and helpful (eg. went out of their way to help knowing that I was unwell during my stay), a comprehensive breakfast and free internet access were provided and it was very well priced. -
