Lovely setting in the older part of town. the rustic, authentic bavarian atmosphere was excellent, and the staff was very helpful. The staff made the staff so much more enjoyable!! They all were so helpful!!. I loved that it was from the 15th century and the old world look of it.Excellent location and scenery. Location of Hotel. Historical Rooms. Posthotel is a very old hotel, but it was clean and rooms were comfortable. View was magnificent. Comfort of the room, excellent breakfast, beautiful decorations.Very helpful staff, good breakfast, good location. Staff was friendly, breakfast good, lighting horrible in room, had to ask for extra lamp in room as it had only one tiny lamp. THe hotel is in a good place, close to nice restaurant around, the public service is ok. I went hiking.The price is reasonable. Need to work on the heating so that it is consistent.While the hotel is old and historic, our room could have used a touch of paint and new carpet - but all in all still a nice room. The pillows were not comfortable. Our room had no window, only a door leading to a common terrace, so there was no way to let air into the room at night. Room was small but good price.very crowded Breakfest buffet. We were overcharged by 40 Euro, quoted price was 75, we were charged115. Because of required reservation we were not able to order dinner,we had to go to another hotel for that.Hotel room needs renovation (carpet, wallpaper, etc.) Bathroom seemed to be recently renovated, though. The sheets in the room had small stains on them which looked like either blood or chocolate. They were not changed over the 3 nights we stayed there. Other than that the room was very comfortable in general. Ligthing in the room was horrible. We never knew that the hotel has two different locations, the hotel itself is really beautiful but the place in its back is not nice, the smell in the bathrooms are horrible and the price is not according to the location, it is not good. I would recommend the hotel but if people is located inside the hotel and not in the extended part.We understand that the hotel is old but it sure could use a major renovation. There was a bad leak from the pipes on our sink that we had the front desk alerted about it. The hotel gives an overall a grungy feeling. They didn't allocate rooms next to each other as requested and I had children with me... I wasn't impressed! At one stage they even wanted us in separate buildings!.

The hotel perfectly combines Bavarian tradition with a regal atmosphere.
Records at the Bavarian Public Record Office first mention the hotel building in 1542. A masterpiece of Bavarian Baroque architecture, it initially served as an inn on the trade route between Venice and Augsburg. Today, the hotel's well-preserved Baroque features are a real attraction for many visitors.

Information about the area
The Werdenfelser Land, or "Goldenes Landl", is a wonderful region which surrounds Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Mittenwald, Oberammergau and Murnau. Here you can enjoy the stunning Alps and their foothills, including the Zugspitze (2,964 metres), the Alpspitze (2,628 metres), the Karwendel Mountains and the Wetterstein Mountains.

Travelling information
Coming from Munich:
- Take the A95 motorway until it joins the Bundesstraße (A road)
- Follow the Bundesstraße in the direction of Mittenwald
- Upon arrival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen you will cross a big junction called Rathausplatz
- You will see a dark-blue railway engine on your right-hand side. Take the 2nd left into Badgasse. Follow this road until you reach an underground car park on your right-hand
- Continue straight ahead and you will arrive at our hotel car park
Coming from Mittenwald:
- Travel into Garmisch-Partenkirchen until you see a Shell petrol station on your right-hand side
- At the traffic lights in front of the petrol station turn right into Ludwigstraße. Follow this road until you can take a left into Badgasse
- Follow the sign for the Posthotel and enter the car park to the right
Coming from Lehrmoss/Grainau:
- Upon arrival in Garmisch-Partenkirschen take a right at the 1st traffic light along the Kasernenmauer (wall)
- Follow the main road and pass under the railway bridge until you arrive at Rathausplatz
- You will see a dark-blue railway engine on your right-hand side. Take the 2nd left into Badgasse. Follow this road until you reach an underground car park on your right-hand
- Continue straight ahead and you will arrive at our hotel car park
