The Donna Wood is a beautiful wooden sailing vessel with a set of cabins below decks, each with bunks nestled up to the solid wooden hull of the ship. It is a wonderful alternative to boring and expensive hotels, and it is in the heart of Copenhagen. The crew actually sail the ship on occasion, and we were lucky enough that a day trip occurred during our stay. We were invited to come along from the start to the end of the harbor, so we could experience the ship underway and still continue ou. όλα τα σχόλια »
If you have a choice you simply MUST stay on Donna Wood and visit the enchanting Copenhagen. It was such a unique place to stay but comfortable and practical too. One of the best night's sleep I've had travelling. Comfy beds and the boat won't make you feel seasick. Located right in the heart of Copenhagen, the boat is docked in the middle of the key destination. Staff are accommodating, helpful and have insider's knowledge. Can sit on the top of the boat for cheap beers and wine and look at th.
"Donna Wood" was converted from a Danish lightvessel, so to say a swiming lighthouse. She is constructed from oak wood and over a 100 years old. This makes her a very unique "hotel". You will enjoy well equipped cabins, clean bathrooms, at a low price. Situated right in the entrance of Nyhavn, you are in the heart of CPH. Many restaurants, ferry boats jetties, the opera and Amalienborg castle are within reach. Food aboard is made by Jes (skipper), Lene (his wife) or Tina. It´s basic food but ve.
The Donna Wood is a lovely old boat, lovingly maintained so that everything is ship-shape. The staff are warm and friendly and speak English well (for those of us who struggle with Danish). The cabins are small but comfortable, with bunk beds comprising double bed beneath and single above. Not much room for anything else, but there is a small sink and heater so it has everything you need for a sleep over. The cabin upstairs provides a sitting area, and there are tables and chairs on deck if the.
Location at Nyhavn is exceelent - concert hall and new Opera house is just minute away. Suprisingly good sleep on board if You like to be on the boat, simple and clean. As on one of the days when I was stayed ,
"Donna Wood" was chartered for a leisure trip to a group of people and left the harbour, I got a complimentary tour on the boat around the harbour, quite different prospective on Copehagen. If You want Your holidays special and different, book Your stay in Copenhagen at " Donna Wood" .
The location at Nyhavn was excellent. The owner was very helpful both during our stay and with sightseeing advice. The room was small, but that is to be expected on a small boat. We were traveling with small children who were fascinated by the boat, but I think this accomodation is acually better suited to couples, for whom the small space and atmosphere could be quite romantic.
Very friendly and welcoming, especially Tine, the Manageress, who spoke excellent English and was extremely helpful. Fantastic location right in the centre of Copenhagen and close to everything.
Location is great, romantic and you can drink caffe (or beer :)) in the morning in really special environment.
Staff is even better than location - friendly and really really nice!.
Unique opportunity to stay on a 1918 boat on a canal in the middle of Nyhavn-fabulous location.Boat did not move however-staff interesting and helpful with local knowledge.
The hostess Tina was very nice! Very cozy cabin, great location, we arrived early but could leave our luggage without problems.
A pretty small sailing vessel which is standing in the heart of the city, just 10-15 minutes to all main sights.
Very cute boat. Relaxed. Superb location. Great value for money. We will absolutely recommend and return.
Everything, the rooms were very well kept and exceptionally clean. Our hosts were outstanding.
Very friendly and helpful lady on reception. Great location, right in the heart of Nyhavn.
Great location, amazing heritage boat, unique atmosphere, very kind staff.
Their stuff was really kind and helpful. I really enjoyed staying there.
Very friendly owners

a lot of fun expirience on board :).
spacious cabin, very very central and very close to the airport.
friendly very convenient for city centre and sights.
Helpfulness of staff
Location
Uniqueness of hotel.
The situation in the city centre.
Got a welcome beer for nothing.
Great location and atmosphere.
Lovely experience! :-).
Ship very original and authentic. A different experience.
Location and a special experience to stay in a boat.
Location was fantastic with very friendly staff.
Expensive for what you have and.
Location.
location.
Only good thing is the location.
It was all great, but be ready for a real ship, not a business hotel.
Nothing really to complain about just things to be aware of. We had lots of luggage and the hole to get down to the bedrooms was quite small which made getting our luggage down a bit tricky. Having said this, staff helped us so it ended up being no problem. The rooms are small but we expected this so it was no problem.
Due to a lot of tourists in Nyhavn canal area there is a lot of garbage, papers, empty bottles on the pawments and in canal water but that is not a fault of " Donna Wood" crew, they try to keep the boat and their area around the boat mooring area as clean as possible.
It was a hot night and the cabin became rather stuffy.
You have to be aware that you're on the boat - little space for the luggage. If you planning to stay more than two or three days, that could be a problem.
Claustrophobic nature of the cabins ie no port holes/windows and initially how to get our suitcases down the narrow hole/stairs-but staff helped.Could have had tea making facilities in room.
Beds weren't very comfortable, quite noisy in the cabins.
Nothing.
Staff knowledge of public transport very poor. Were unable to point us to the nearest bus stop which we found within a 30 second walk. Also one member of staff (possibly janitor) spoke no English and was extremely rude and miserable. Also no credit card payment was annoying.
Only downside was there was only one bathroom available for all the guests, as the other shower was out of action, but that didn’t present too much of a problem.
smelly bed linen (bring a sleeping bag with you).
rooms (cabins) quite small, with no windows
there are ALL ship sounds in cabin
shared bathroom.
LAck of ventilation in room
Slight smell of fuel oil in forward cabin.
diesel fuel small in the cabin.
I loved it all!.
Very tight quarters. Some might get clostrophobic.
Noisy.
Humid and suffocating as it was a boat house.
Everything exept staff and location..
not , clean enougth , no ventilation , bed uncomfortable.
The ship is a bar in the day time and bar guests will constantly be visiting the shared toilet downstairs. Be aware there is no space in the room. No breakfast and the ship was smelling from the toilet tank.
