the staff were very friendly and helpful the foyer had a beautiful perfume smell the hotel was in a perfect spot about 50 meteres to the Victoria markets and walking distance to the city. taxis and trams were just out the front deli across the road that was opened till late the café was just through the foyer doors will definatley book there agai

Love the location near the Victoria markets. Easy access to Lygon Street and trams to Carlton, Brunswick, North Melbourne. Close to rental car pick-up. Surprised how good the healthy breakfast was and coffee. Excellent value.

proximity to the centre of melbourne, helpfulness and genuine friendliness of staff, high standard of cleanliness of rooms, disabled facilities - It's proximity to central location to many of Melbourne's shopping and sporting precincts, including public transport etc.

The staff were superb. Everyone, from the people on the desk to the cleaning staff to the people in the restaurant at breakfast time were polite, helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome without being 'in your face'. The breakfasts were very impressive with a great choice of fresh, delicious food and coffee made to order. The fresh fruit platter was an unexpected, very appreciated highlight on arrival. I can't say enough good things about the Alto and staff . The room was clean ,comfortable and had little extras that made you feel at home.I had a mini box of chocolates and a welcome note waiting in my room as well as my luggage that they had kept secure for me for a week I was traveling to Caines . I feel like I'm staying in a living museum when I'm at The Hotel Windsor. That's what I love most, as an anthropologist.

Room service meal was soooooo tasty and everyone was lovely there. I liked the fact that they had a system in place that allowed guests to use the same towels if they wanted to in order to save water which is great. What I would have also liked to see is a recycle bin in our room so we can put our aluminium, paper, cardboard, plastic and glass.

Arriving on a delayed flight into Melbourne via Sydney from Hawaii, we expected all sorts of problems upon arriving very late at the Somerset.
However, I must complement their staff, in particular Paul Dale, who were very helpful and understanding.
We have stayed at the Somerset on a number of occasions and I must say the staff, and in particular

i like there are lots of electric and home appliances, like microwave oven, washing machine, stove, etc. There are shops and supermarkets nearby thus cooking in the room is very convenient esp. my mother is a vegetarian. It also near the melbourne central, queen victoria markets. And many tourist points can be reach on foot. (If you don't mind to walk)

loved the fact that there was a bathtub which meant we could soak our
weary feet and legs after a good day out and about. -
Have stayed at Rydges 2009, 2011 and now 2013. I would still recommend.

Amazingly convenient if arriving by train or on the bus from the Airport. Reception staff were very friendly, room was spacious with comfortable chairs and a low table as well as a desk and chair. I have stayed at Ibis many times and the staff are always wonderful both reception & room staff. I had a back injury this trip and when I checked in David on reception was at my room shortly after me with a bucket of ice for my back & would not accept a tip but wished me well in my recovery. These acts of kindness & excellent customer service are definitely remembered & appreciated.

The staff were fantastic, they couldn't do enough for you. The
room was spacious and very well appointed. They location would be
great if you had plans at one of the sporting venues and although you
were 2 blocks from the North/South tram routes, there were
East/West trams running one street either side of the hotel.

Amazing staff, especially concierge who always greeted us warmly and helped us with our twins. Very accommodating and sympathetic to our needs for our 6 month old babies. Well furnished rooms/suites for amazing value. Best location - just around the corner from flinders lane where lots of good restaurants / cafes located. One of the best experiences I've had at a hotel - particularly for the price we paid!
