The Chestnuts Guest House is just a short walk from Windermere village and Bowness, with Lake Windemere a 20-minute stroll away. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Lake District, the hotel also provides free private parking and free Wi-Fi. Chestnuts Guest House offers a secluded garden with seating areas. Free bike storage is also available. Each of the traditional rooms features a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee facilities. Rooms also have a hairdryer and en suite facilities. Some rooms have four-poster beds and garden views. A freshly prepared full English breakfast is served daily from 8:30 to 9:15 in the dining room, with a vegetarian option also available. There are a number of local restaurants, pubs and cafes within walking distance. Bowness-on-Windermere and The World of Beatrix Potter attraction are less than a mile away. Lake Windermere is within walking distance, and Windermere Golf Club is 5 minutes’ drive.

Lovely stay, great breakfast. Heather looked after us and any made us feel really welcome. We were given a choice of two rooms on arrival which was great. Nothing was too much trouble. The thermostat was adjusted so we had more heat in our room which was very welcome on a rainy day in the lakes(who'd have thought that could happen?) But the loveliest thing was it was my partners birthday during our stay and on that morning, at breakfast Heather gave us a rendition of Happy Birthday whilst prese.

The guest room was very clean and well presented and we had everything we needed and the breakfast was to die for. Heather always made sure we had everything we wanted or needed during our stay. The location of Chestnuts was very good because it was a 15 minute walk to the shops and 20 minutes to the nearest lake. Me and my fiance will be going back there very soon... Thanks again Heather for a lovely weekend and for looking af. Heather and Nigel were very accommodating and bent over backwards to provide me with a creative dairy-free menu. the room was very clean and quite luxurious. It is on a quiet street and was an easy walk to Lake Windermere or Bowness. The comfort of the property and specifically our room, its convenience for Widermere Centre and Bowness, ease of parking on site, the and attentiveness of Heather and Nigel the owners, the extremely nice breakfast that they provide. When we arrived we where greeted by Heather and offered tea, coffee and a very nice piece of cake which is a very nice touch The guest house was excellent breakfast was enough to keep you going all day. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best we've had in a long time. The guest house was warm, quiet, clean and welcoming with complimentary tea and cake on arrival. A traditional English guest house, all ticking clocks and Axminster type carpets. the beautiful comfy bed! The house is beautifully placed betwen Windermere and Bowness,easily walked to either town from here. Parking was good too, off road. It is run by an extremely lovely couple. They are very obliging & friendly. It is very comfortable, very central @ the breakfast very tasty. Cleanliness of hotel, comfort of beds, good room facilities, quiet, good quality breakfast, outside space to sit if you wanted to. Warm welcome, very comfortable rooms, great breakfast, really good location with parking. Freedom to come and go when you wanted. Great location, 15 mins walk to the lakes, 15 mins walk to the town. Breakfast was excellent. Very nice and helpful hosts. The room is not very big but cozy, and it's very clean! Breakfast is really good! It's a wonderful stay there:). The wifi kept going off but i think it was down to a signal issue instead of a fault. I didn't report this because we weren't in the house long enough really to be effected by it. nothing. Nothing. Minor problem was the room still smelt slightly of paint. But this should fade and not be a problem for future visitors. Small things like the room we were in on the top floor had limited head space to go into the adjoining bathroom, to change the temperature of the radiator you had to get on the floor and stretch to reach behind a chest of drawers, breakfast had to be fitted into a narrow time slot and not sure why the radio is on in the dining room all the time. The Wifi didnt work :(. We have no complaints. nothing. Wi-fi was a bit patchy in our room at times but they do have two networks so they are trying their best. Only thing I didn't like was the sign stuck up in the room which felt quite authoritative. I thought it was enough to have the "do's and don't's" in the black folder. Nothing. Shower cubicle was tiny (approx 2 ft x 2 ft floor space). Wi-Fi was unstable especially in the room. We stayed for 4 nights and came to the conclusion that the host was not a warm lady. Whilst she did attend to our needs, she did them in a perfunctory manner. We feel that the place is over-rated compared to other B n B's we have stayed in in the UK.
