Absolutely fantastic place to stay and the managers were absolute people friendly. My wife was so stressed due to graduating that day and the car rental stuffed up our booking and she was worried that we were 4 hours early checking in on top of that, but there was no problems with checking in and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALHAMRA OAKS MOTOR LODGE to anyone. Great service , while we where staying the weather took a turn for the worst , equipped with only light summer clothes the owners lent us their own coats ,hats and scarves, service cant get any better than that ! The room was clean and fresh with a very comfy bed.

New owners were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. Thoroughly recommended. The room was excellent, 'Big Malc' and the staff absolutely brilliant. Wonderful value for money, great location for sporting events in Dunedin or visiting the university. Would definitely return... from Ben, Kev and Tommo (English cricket fans). Friendliness of the staff , williness to go that little bit further, jam and butter for our breakfast, let us leave our cars there while attending lectures at the Hospital. Helpful owner let me park my car there for a while after check-out. Good location for university and interesting end of town. Would stay there again. Central location near university and sports stadium. About 30 minutes walk from the railway station - no need to use the car. Liked the locality - Alhambra Rugby Club grounds over the road, with lovely oak trees. Convenient for the city. Generally we had a great unit. It was spacious and modern. The place was clean and tidy. Only that we didn't have time to stay longer... Bit of road noise and from uni students, but not too late into the night. Nothing - totally satisfied. nothing. Just needs to update the computer in the computer room. The bed had slight roll together. There was a musty smell each time i entered the roon which i eventually attributed to the towels - even when clean they had a musty odour as though not fully dried after washing. Poor Wifi options. on a one way street. needs double glazing as Dunedin is very cold in winter. no where to wash dishes other than bath room basin. Every time we left you opend windows making room really cold. need bigger bowls. University student houses close by were causing a great deal of late night noise disturbance. Hosts decided to shut office without notice and left us unable to access our room key for nearly an hour at 8pm in the evening after a long day out. No apology for inconvience. Heater was very noisy as it turned on and off. Fan heater in bathroom was pointing down towards the wall causing it to get quite hot. Beds not very comfortable. It was located next to a very noisy student flat, which was a minor problem on Saturday night. Also the shower head needed replacement; - the water came out in sections, not really in the middle. I paid extra money for a larger room which was to have a bath. There wasnt a bath and I feel ripped off by paying extra and not receiving it. The motel reception wasnt interested when I brought this to their attention and said that was the room I had been allocated and they were full.
