  Staff is very kind and helpful, despite the difficulty of communication in english (common problem all over Japan)... Room is comfortable. The location is practical, at walkable distance (200mt) from the 2nd stop of Gora-Sounzan cablecar... it has got an Onsen (hotspring bath) at ground floor, open till 2am, and from 5am, with outdoor tub! Shuttle service is very convenient but you need to book both pick up and departure from hotel. Hotel staffs are very nice but they speak english very little. Convenient store is not far from hotel, just 5-10 mins walk. Room is spacious comparing to tokyo's room.

  The hotel staff was very accommodating when I let them know ahead of time that I could not eat seafood. They served up an amazing meal for us where my fiancé got their usual seafood dinner and I got some good substitutes, like fruit and tofu. It didn't hurt that we got served this in our hotel room. Also, When we checked out, we missed the shuttle bus, the staff actually get the driver to send us to the station without us asking.   Gora is a beautiful place to stay while in Hakone and the Merveille is a nice hotel. The staff are warm, friendly and speaks English or tries their very best to assist you. The indoor onsen is great and has all you need to enjoy and relax in the hot pool. The breakfast was sumptuous and the amenities in the room was amazing.   We arrived in thick fog with not much of a visibility. The good thing was that there was someone from the hotel with our name in a list who met us at the bus stop and showed the way. The hotel is in a good, quiet location close to the main street but not directly on it. The post office, port with sightseeing boats, a few stores and restaurants are... was die leute sagen » fairly close. You can use the onsen which is open almost 24/7. In the morning, we were served a fairly elaborate Japanese-style breakfast. - I like the service of the hotel crew, they are very friendly and good service. Although most of the crew do not speak much English but they'll try to help.
