The staff are very kind, rooms are clean. We live in the top floor and from the window there you can see the bell tower in St. Marco square.   Generator was a great place to stay in Venice. Even though it is on Giudecca, there is a vaporetto stop near the hostel and getting to St. Mark's Square is quick and easy. Staff were generally helpful and made a special effort to help us locate a lost piece of luggage at the airport. Certainly better than your average budget hostel. - They helped me to charge my phone when my cable got broken. Very comfortable beds with lights that don't disturb others. Quite cheap, good breakfast for additional price. It was a half-populated 16 person dorm, but it was comfortable to stay there. It is on a separate island from the city center, but public transport is working all the night so it's not a problem.
