  Marianna and George were extremely friendly and helpful during our three day stay. The family-run hotel is a traditionally restored from scratch old harbour house with modern high tech amenities. Despite the lack of sea view, staying in the hotel is very pleasant. Rooms are nice and traditionally decorated. Breakfast was a rare treat with great food in lovely surroundings. Position of the hotel was perfect. Right in the heart of the old town so a few metres from the harbour, the shops and restaurants but an oasis of peace and comfort as soon as you stepped back inside the hotel.   The apartment was very comfortable, well furnished and very clean, optimal in every detail. Ours was a short stay, we enjoyed the beach close to the apartment and did a few trips to Heraklion to visit its museums and Knossos.   Fantastic resort. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The stand out was the friendliness of the staff - they were extremely helpful, from telling us the best places to eat and drink in town and making reservations for us, to organising a packed breakfast for us when we had to leave very early on our last day.   I have discovered Chania to be a beautiful city, with old town streets to explore, myriad shops and restaurants around a charming harbour. I have also discovered this to be a jewel of a hotel residing about ten metres away from the harbour front. The Belmondo hotel is small and personal, each room is different, all had character, felt like a rare luxury in the perfect loca - The staff without exception could not do enough to make our stay perfect. Our room was not what I expected and I was told they were fully booked. After 3 nights I checked on letsbookhotel.com and discovered they had a suite available and we were moved. I think it was a misunderstanding and they very kindly did not charge us for the upgrade. I would highly recommend an upgrade to a 'suite' a large room with two sofas. Very comfortable king size bed, sitting area with table and chairs, patio with view of harbor with table and chairs, a kitchenette in the room stocked with dishes, utensils, cooking pans plus refrigerator. The bathroom was lovely with a heavenly large shower.
