  We stayed for 5 nights from March 28 to April 2. They granted us all our requests: big carpeted room with king-sized bed and nice view. Thanks Ms Jenny of reservations whom I had been coordinating with via email! The hotel is very near the Chongwenmen subway station (lines 2 & 5).   Staff is very kind - one of our young guests (11-years boy) forgot his passport in hotel and we were very happy when we called hotel 6 hours later and were informed that his passport was found and now we can get it - and so we did immediately, our flight was not cancelled.   Our entire family enjoyed our stay at the Peninsula. The room was spacious, clean and thoughtfully designed. I love how the desk area is separated from the rest of the room. It allows me to do some work while the kids are watching a movie. They were also very helpful in providing us with "local knowledge" of where to go have fun, have good food etc etc. The room itself was huge.   The courtyard style hotel was lovely with lots of traditional features. We stayed in November so it was too cold sit in the courtyard but instead w had drinks in front of a log fire. It's in a great location down a hutong alleyway. Staff were very helpful and provided an English guide on sights, restaurants and bars. The situation is very near the city centre and the external áreas of the hotel are very comfortable, nice and well design.

It is situated in an old Beijing district Hutong, which is probably the only bastion of traditional Chinese climate left. The taxi from the airport to the hotel cost us 70 yuans (according to a taximet - Featuring charming, ultra-helpful English-speaking staff; the Xiao Yuan Alley hotel provides comfortable beds and good facilities, with a superbly located downtown hutong (Beijing alley) location, sensibly priced organized tours (if you wish) and excellent and very reasonably priced food available inside and nearby outside the hotel. And it's a very affordable place. I very much want to stay at this hotel again. I get happy just thinking about it. Highly recommend.
