The location close to city centre, shops, bus and train station and eating places; helpful staff despite many not speaking English. Room spacious and comfortable, kettle in room and cleaned every day. Cable internet access pretty good and one channel of English films on TV!. The price was good. Checked in at 3:45 a.m. and left at 9:00 a.m. for connecting flights, so can't comment on a lot! Breakfast was very basic Chinese style but fine. Staff spoke no English but we were in China so that wasn't a problem!.

It was the perfect location to the areas in Kunming that we were visiting. The Location and value of money was okay. The hotel located close to train station and business area. It looks clean.Since I found mold and bad smell inside the pillow and bedding in "Fawlty Towers Hotel" (Yangshuo), we checked each hotel very carefully. The stars rating in Booking dot com does not mean anything. Most 3-5 stars hotel does not have any official single star certification. This JinMao Hotel displays a 3 star certification (Not international). The price is ok, it is what I paid and what I get. Only one thing : close to Kunming Railway Station, 10 to 15 minutes. air con; triple room; staff is ok - though not overly helpful. Closeness to our venue. None of it. Nothing. Breakfast adequate but a little boring - catered only for Chinese palate. Beds were usual hard beds for China. Hard to find (initially). Only one staff member on Reception spoke/understood English. Very hard beds & no wifi available. The hotel mainly caters to a Chinese clientele so there was some communication problems. Don't Eat Breakfast in Hotel if you are not Chinese, the serve very bad breakfast which you have never been seen in your lifetime, Nobody speak English, If you don't speak English is very much difficult, they don't you not at all. Smoking smell inside and outside the room. People also smoke inside the lobby. Receptionist was terrible. She never gave me a glance for a long time while talking to Chineses. It would take an hour for check-in if I hadn't go out for dinner. Breakfast restaurant was like a market : noisy, insufficient table and food.. the breakfast was fairly bland; beds are very hard (I know, it's China); showers were on the cold side. No credit card facilities. all rooms smelt badly of smoke. Stood for 11/2 hours waiting to check in. over 50 chinese checked in around us (We did not exist) Plain Chinese breakfast. (boring) Absolutely no one understood any english at all. Paid for a 7 to 9th floor room. Got a 4th floor room, no reduction in price (others got 200rmb of the price.) EASY Hotel next door much better value and staff more helpfull. The service service are really poor,despite I show them I have a booking with them and I printed in Chinese. Chinese don't know Chinese ? The bed are damn hard and it is noise all the time. Only location are good. Unfriendly staff Non english speaking staff No credit card facility No Wi fi Hard beads Cold showers People spitting on floor in dining room Treated rudely Unclean environment Dirty, smelly toilets. Very poor cleanliness of rooms and most public hotel areas. Foyer area has a constant smell of smoke, with urine / toilet odour from the downstairs facility. Beds are ridiculously hard and uncomfortable making adequate rest impossible.
