  The hotel is lovely, nice rooms, comfy bed. They gave us a complimentary room upgrade for our honeymoon. They are renovating at the moment so I imagine it will be more modern look in the future.   the staff were very friendly and ALWAYS said aloha every time they passed. The pool and gym were wonderful and we used them every day. I liked having the Kings and Queens market close by as we had a choice of eating establishments. the beach was protected and great for water sports. Down the beach was the Lava Lava Bar - we ate their quite a few... 别人怎么说 » times and had drinks at sunset. Thanks to John and NIck there for a wonderful part of our stay. - The beach was very nice. Our room would have been perfect if we'd had a full ocean view instead of a partial because of a tree. The gym is nice and clean. The concierge was helpful but be warned, it is run by Expedia so no Kama'aina rates. The nearby markets were convenient and a good option if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Several good restaurants as well as a food court are available.

  Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Staff were helpful. Lovely outlook over banyan trees and sweet night twitterings emanated from the birds nesting in the banyans as we slept. Great location for Volcanoes National Park and Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls. We did all 3 in one day. Beautiful walk in the gardens opposite the hotel. "Pesto"restaurant was a 5 min drive away and was divine. - The hotel doesn't get very good reviews so we were a little skeptical about staying here. We were surprised to find the hotel clean, comfortable, in a great location (wished we had booked for 2 days instead of 1),staff was very friendly and the renovations were beautiful. Breakfast buffet was very well done. Free parking was a bonus!

  Forget the reviews about how it takes a long time to get anywhere - plot courses of shortest distances on the map they give you and only use tram / boat for novelty. Awesome bridges and islands around lagoon tend to be shortest route(s). Staff and service best I've ever seen. They all live in Hawaii - they're happy! Lots of things to do. You really don't ever even have to leave the resort. But if you want to one of my favorite beaches Hapuna is right up the road. I also really liked the products they had in their bathroom so much so I bought some to take home with me.

  It's an older resort but that is not a problem at all. Fabulous resort facilities, very clean and comfortable room (partial ocean view) with great service. You can't swim in the ocean directly from the hotel but it is such a dramatic location as the resort is positioned directly on lava rock. Views of the ocean are stunning. A hire car is a good idea. - Beautiful location, spent the most of my time at the resort because it was so beautiful and relaxing. Amazing pool to sit back with a Mai Tai and watch the sunset. Watched the manta rays feeding and ate delicious 'spider shrimp' at Rays on the Bay. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again myself

  I loved the history of the hotel. It's not like the huge hotels on the island, but it is romantic in that it kind of takes you back in time. Don't look at it as what it could be, but for what it once was and still is, and you will fall in love with it. Arrived at night, so didn't see that they have this beautiful view of the ocean. Parking was good even though others took advantage of parking along the perimeters of the lot. That is, we wanted to be sure that we could get out of the parking lot in the very early hours of the morning so that we we could get ur early inter-island flight. Hotel staff curule ensure tat people did not park in the thoroughfare of the exit of the parking lot.

  The view from the ocean side rooms was spectacular. The check in staff (Wendy) did a great job checking us in with a long line, she was very friendly and helpful.   Yes, the place is old and run down, but if you're looking for a clean, budget-friendly place, it's fine. Great shower. We got a free upgrade to a room with a king-size bed, so that was very nice. The location is great. Very central and a short walk or drive to many restaurants and beaches. It is waterfront on a nice beach, but most of the units... 别人怎么说 » do not have direct views of the water. - The location is very good and on the beach which could be dangerous due to high currents but is very nice when the water is calm. The rooms are huge and kept clean. They offer free breakfast (some pastries, bananas, juice, coffee, and tea) which is very convenient to start a busy day on Kauai. We liked our stay in Sands hotel and will definitely go there again.

  The staff was really helpful when the door keys they gave us did not work and sent up someone who had to go and get special equipment to clear out the lock so it would take the key.
