The staff are amazingly friendly and really made us feel welcome. Everyone was cheerful, helpful and all round nice. It felt more like a family hotel than a chain hotel (and I mean that as a positive comment.) The pool was the perfect temperature and a good depth: it was shallow enough for my 8 year old daughter to touch the bottom, but deep enough for comfortable adult swimming. The Gym had a good range of machines, and whenever I went there I had them all to myself. The car park had plenty of.

Great family suite - one room for the parents, another for the kids, with interconnecting door. Much better than all squashing into one room. Hooray for some privacy! All staff were extremely friendly, too. Really gave the impression of caring about your stay. Swimming pool is relatively shallow, which may be an issue for *some* people, but is great for families - our kids were just about in their depth everywhere. Location is great for visiting York - we left the car in the hotel car park the . Everything about this place is impressive from the first meeting to the checking out process Chris on reception is a superb example and many other hotels could do well just watching his manner and hoping to emulate his style The room surpassed all expectations and our stay could not have been better there is a cracking pool and breakfast was one of the finest ever sampled in a uk hotel I can only thank the staff at the Kilima for saving what was nearly a complete disaster of a trip away. Very warm welcome from Chris as we arrived set the tone for a happy, relaxing break. Room was a good size, clean, with a comfortable bed. The free wifi is a must for us these days and it connected immediately.The swimming pool was the perfect temperature with plenty of towels in the changing rooms. At meal times Sammy was the perfect host and we enjoyed the full English breakfast. The secure parking was much appreciated. Room was a fair size with Tea & Coffee facilities available in room. Refreshment top up's at reception readily available and great idea. Good location, room (25) was situated at side of hotel so no road noise. Pleasant 15 min stroll into centre of York with a few restaurants en route if preferred. Staff extremely pleasant, especially Chris on Reception desk - cheeky Yorkshire chappy with welcoming manner.The family room was a lovely surprise! We had struggled to find a family room for 5 and this was perfect. A four poster bed for us and a separate room for the children with television/ DVD player. Very comfy beds. Everywhere was maintained to the highest standard and beautifully clean. The swimming pool was fantastic - my two girls even went for a late swim with dad while I put their 3 year old brother to bed. . From arrival with the pleasant greeting from manager Chris, who checked and confirmed our room was ready prior to advertised check in and carried our bags to room. Excellent service, quality and quantity of food in restaurant. Free wifi in all areas of hotel and room. large free car park and walking distance from city centre. Breakfast cooked to order not self service. The large and comfortable family room which was nice and cosy as well as being very clean. The staff were very efficient and friendly. My daughter loved the pool and my husband loved the large (and free) car park, especially when we noticed the prices at the car parks in the city centre! Its nice that the hotel is an easily-walkable distance from the town centre. Very friendly hotel and nothing too much trouble for the staff. We liked the comfortable warm room and the four poster bed .We also thought the complimentary hot chocolate and biscuits on the tea tray were very welcome after a chilly, damp day spent shopping,The breakfast was all waitress served,(no self service queues here,)by friendly efficient smiling staff. We received a very friendly welcome from the staff. The room was clean and spacious with plenty of tea, coffee etc. A very enjoyable stay and would definately return. There was a very nice Italian restaurant within easy walking distance if you dont want to walk all the way into York in the evening. The room was large and comfortable. Walkable to the city walls and into the centre, approx 15-20 minutes. Overall a good hotel for a short city trip. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was served and freshly cooked to your order. No going up to a buffet breakfast. The pool was a good size. Breakfast room/bar is a little dark, being on the ground floor which is built into a hillside and doesn't have windows all around. I think decorating with lighter colours might help this area. However this is a minor criticism, the fast friendly service and good food more than made up for any criticisms on the slightly dark decor. Decor is a bit outdated, but that was expected and in no way caused a problem. (That's the extent of my negativity, which is a comment in itself...). Cant think of anything. Nothing really but the evening meals were expensive and portions too big. It would be better to reduce both. No negative comments. The creaky floorboards kept waking me up at night when other guests were moving around, but it was probably what I expected from an old building. It being an old building it does suffer from the squeeky floorboards syndrome, and also my room had a layer of dust ( on the bedside lamp and table! ) but this is minor and didn't detract from an enjoyable two day stay. Nothing. Only staying one night!!. There was nothing that either my husband or I could find fault with. Pool small and steam room miniscule - 5 seats but one broken and one directly above the steam outlet and recommended not to sit on! Breakfast was very busy and therefore service a bit slow as staff were over stretched. Food good however. Evening opening time of resturant being alittle earlier for children would have been of benefit if eating in hotel at night (opening time was 18:30). I liked everything. Nothing to find fault with. nothing. Nothing to comment. All was good. Room was very cold - but staff were eager to solve the problem. there was nothing we did not like about this hotel. Nothing will go again. Only one vegetarian item on the dinner menu - could have more variety. Not much outlook from this room, although it was a nice room in every other respect. Well, the floorboards do squeak, but it's bearable. Only heard squeaks from my room, not any others. little bit further afield than we usually choose in york however the price, facilities, quality of food and staff more than compensated for an extra few minutes of walking.at this hotel we got the best room and a pool ect for less than the lowest grade bedroom in a similar hotel a bit closer to city...so for us it made perfect sense to stay here. we loved it. No air-conditioning in rooms and it seemed to take a considerable time for the rooms which weren't being vacated to be serviced (our room wasn't serviced one day till well into late afternoon. A king size bed would have made the stay 10/10 rather than 9/10. Squeaky floorboards in the four poster bedroom. Nothing, we enjoyed the stay. Nothing. Some parts of the hotel could have done with an update in decor. No complaints. No lift to the upper floor. The door entry system was a bit confusing but someone was there to let you in. A bit of a walk into York. Cant really find any faults. Nothing. I thought the prices for the bar and restaurant were very expensive. We didn't have any meals in the hotel apart from breakfast, although we would have liked to have had an evening meal but it was to expensive. Bed on small side (used to king size at home).
