The location of the Hotel was excellent. The bedroom and bathroom were ample-sized for two people and very clean. Towels were changed as and when requested. The breakfast choice was superb, cooked to order and hot. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very polite, friendly and one of the owners, Kevin, was extremely helpful regarding information on places to see and there were lots of leaflets on places of interest. We arrived late morning, check in normally 2pm, and as we had advi.

Very clean and comfortable room (albeit quite basic) with kingsize bed - unusual for a Guest House (where one would expect a double bed only). Extraordinarily friendly and extremely helpful team of staff (we left early and in place of breakfast they made us lovely sandwiches to eat at a more 'sensible' hour). Fantastic breakfasts - terrific choice of local food (Manx Kippers) and continental/cooked foods. Extremely goo. Ever positive review read about this place was right on the money! Proprietor greeted my Wife & I. Knew who we were immediately by name! Was very personable. Answered any questions we may have had as well! Provided exact easy to read instructions on how to get to the hotel as well. Even had a nice continental breakfast prepared for us when told of our early departure to catch the ferry back to Liverpool. Very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of choice for breakfast and quickly served. A do-able walk to Evergreen House (30 minutes with a slight hill) and enjoyable walk back from Peverill Building along the sea front. Taxi's organised by the owners to and from the airport and also for business meetings. The hotel is just off the beach front but only a two/three minute walk. The breakfast menu is fantastic. The breakfast was massive and they were happy to refill pots, jugs etc. they even served the local specialities. The staff were very helpful with advice on parking. They had comprehensive tourist information. Our room was cleaned and towels replaced daily. They were very accommodating when we extended our stay. A great place to stay. This hotel was absolutely perfect for our needs. Great location and price and really friendly and helpful staff. The room was really good too with nice size en-suite and we appreciated the free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee in the rooms. The breakfast was amazing - you must try the pancakes with fresh fruit! The service of the staff there is good, we booked a twin room before went there but requested changing the room when we found the view outside the window was not good. The staff help changed the room with a very friendly attitude and quick service. The hotel is a traditional style one and breakfast is nice!. Lots to narrow stairs to climb in order to reach the bedrooms - normal for a Victorian Guest House but taxing for 'older' or less-mobile guests. Honestly nothing I could think of. Room didn't have a view - but not really required on this visit. We had a twin room with 2 single beds. The beds were far too soft. It was like sleeping on a marshmallow. The room size and ensuite were both rather snug. Really just a place to sleep - but this was all we were after. Nothing really. The 47 stairs up to our room! And we weren't even at the top of the house. This can't be helped - it's an old Victorian building with no lift. But it did stop things being absolutely perfect. There has no bathtub in the washroom in our room only the shower. Updating the bath linen would be better. The scores above are based on our room (No.2). It appeared to have been recently decorated and was in very good order, however it was very small (smaller than our own bedroom) and there was only room for one small chair. The wash basin, shower and toilet were situated in a cupboard! It was situated at the rear of the property and the vista from the two windows was on to the back of another building and a back yard. there was nothing we did not like. Nothing... it was a bit cold in the room during the day, although there were lovely blankets to keep warm. Some of the other staff - one female member of staff in particular - seemed disinterested and unfriendly towards guests. Only bad point was that there wasn't a view, but I didn't expect one (located just down a street from the beach) and had a wonderful stay. The only thing we didn't like was the parking difficulty although we soon sorted out what to do regarding free public parking. It wasnt apparent from the letsbookhotel.com site that this was a guest house, although obviously the price might indicate well indicate that to be the case. This is a comment rather than a criticism because the Devonian is a very good place to stay. Not applicable.....REALLY!. Only criticism - Only one chair in each of our two double rooms. Nothing. Bathroom would be small for a large person but this didn't bother us. The absence of a lounge and of easy chairs in the bedroom. No lift. Nothing. Room at the back of the building so no view and it was dark. Nothing to report. Rooms were a little on the small side, but more than adequate for a short stay. Some noise from other doors closing and rooms above. Nothing. Was ok for me. Nothing. Lots of stairs to room. singel beds were a bit small and parking was a bit of a hit and miss cause of local take aways yellow lines etc. none.
