Our room at this hotel was spacious and comfortable, large by Japanese standards. The main downside is that the aircon didn't work, so we had the window open regularly and this let in a smell of sewage prevalent in the hotel car park area. (This was not the usual sulfurous smell we experienced commonly when touring Kyushi, but definitely a sewage

The spa area of the hotel was very good - pleasant and clean.
The half board multi-course dinner was absolutely super and indeed, beat a kais -
Room is large & clean with nice view of rice fields & mountain. Excellent onsen both in-door & out-door with nice views also. However, the out-door one is inside the building, just with no windows. They provide free shuttle to pick you up from Yufuin station and also to drop you off/pick up from the shopping street.
