As mentioned in a previous review, we wondered about the stairs problem but don't know what the fuss is about - we are both in our mid-60's and didn't find the stairs at all difficult. Anyway, the very helpful manager insisted with helping with luggage. There is plenty of public parking at very little cost immediately outside the hotel and the location is ideal for exploring the centre of Saumur on foot.
