A bright roomy hotel in a perfect location for exploring inner-city Darwin & its attractions. From the moment we entered Doubletree we were welcomed by friendly and helpful staff, our room was lovely [probably spoilt us for all hotels and motels in the future], and our week-long stay filled with nothing but positives. Great location. We used the hotel as a base for a Kakadu safari camping tour. The hotel stored our luggage until our return and the guest laundry facilities enabled us to wash and iron our clothes before moving on. The restaurant provided two excellent evening meals.

The location was central, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Overall good value for money. I would definitely stay here again. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast included with the room was excellent every day with a great choice of breakfast options. staff members are friendly and service was excellent throughout my stay. All shops, cafe and restaurants are within walking distance. A free public car parking is also available without booking. Highly recommended. Fabulous location. We used this hotel before and after a Kakadu tour. We were able to store our luggage while we were away and the guest laundry facility allowed us to clean up after our camping safari. Friendly helpful staff; good sized swimming pool with pleasant surrounds; quiet; easy walk to the city proper with its restaurants and shops; pleasant walking along the Esplanade. The cookie on arrival is awesome as are the pillows.Staff nice but their booking system seems to be very slow and waited quite awhile to check in and out.Otherwise all good. The pool was awesome... And the parking was great.. We went to the entertainment centre that evening for a show so the location was excellent for us.. we enjoyed our stay very comfortable bed and surrounds good location thanks to Askahd the manager who extended our stay under difficult circumstances. We appreciated the friendly, helpful staff. We liked the room size and setup. We loved the pool and deck area! Also the parking was very convenient. Hotel location was excellent, facilities very good. The room was very nice. The bed was really really comfortable - a pleasure to sleep in. Hotel staff all friendly, informative and polite. I can't comment on food as didn't eat there. Location is excellent, comfortable beds, clean room, free parking. Will definetly stay again on next trip to Darwin. We loved our room and the bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The KIng suite was very roomy and the staff was very accommodating. eg a broken toilet was fixed the same day. We were upgraded to a suite which was very luxurious. The location is excellent and the facilities very good. big, spacious rooms hot choc, chip cookie on arrival which is a welcome treat after a long day's travel :). In the year 2013 wi-fi should be free in the room - 30 minutes free in the lobby is not good enough. I also hate having 2% added to the bill for having the temerity to pay by card. Who pays in cash these days? Australia is the only country that does this and it is extremely annoying. The gym wasn't great. The public bathroom wasn't in great condition either. The decor in the room we stayed in was a bit tired and dated. Also the shower was very small in a very large bathroom. In the year 2013 why do we have to pay for wi-fi in the room. 30 mins free in the lobby is not a good deal. And why do we have 2% added to the bill for the 'privilege' of paying by card. Who pays a hotel bill by cash these days? An irritating habit of most Australian hotels.. Can't think of anything. Elevators are very slow and only one of the 3 seemed to be working each time. The carpet in the public areas was very worn and did not seem very clean. Restricted access to free-to-air channels on the TV. A few problems with the room (521) - Air Conditioning could not be turned down and it was very cold during the night but a maintenance engineer came quickly and repaired it. Our room door was left open on 3 different occasions by hotel staff. The shower came going hot and cold without changing the controls. Breakfast price too high, no opportunity to buy single items. No free wi fi in rooms Poorly stocked mini bar. Darwin is quite an expensive city to visit but worth the trip. I wished there was a little packet of free biscuits to have with the tea like in smaller non chain hotels. Such a friendly and Australian touch and makes one feel at home. Re below photos - it does need a bit of a spruce up. walls in room 109 need appear to be mouldy, needs painting, outside of building could do with some attention. Nothing to dislike here. The TVs were old and inadequate. Service from the pool bar was very slow. We ordered two toasted sandwiches and it took over 25 minutes for them to arrive and then only after we had complained. Apparently the kitchen had a gas problem. An update from the staff would have helped. the shower curtain in the bathroom - a door would have been better and maybe expected in a nice hotel like this. at the this price point I don't complain. The high rates per room that letsbookhotel.com gave -- well above the hotel's normal rates. Not a criticism of the hotel, which was excellent, but of letsbookhotel.com attempting to exploit a busy week-end. Nothing. no complaints, would recommend it. No flat screen tvs. We had a difficult moment, we had booked Holiday Inn, and were looking for this, we had no notification of the name change.. Price. the pillows. The ocean was very inviting, both water and weather to suit, but could not swim due to bitiees (Crocs, Sharks, Box Jellies, Rock fish etc). confusion between hotels of same name needed numbers ie 122 and 116. Nothing specifc. TV is ancient, windows don't open- no balcony, no dry cleaning on weekends (there is but at double the price)...these things didn't really affect my trip though. Nothing. nothing. Staff a little slow when booking in. A bit of confusion over the account, but, that was sorted out in a professional way. Nothingwebsite. limited pay TV channels - no CNN or BBC. Having to pay for internet use. No treadmill in gym. sound on the TV could not be turned up so you could not hear pay channels. Most were very hard to hear. The visio nwas grainy on most dchannels. No complaints at all. Bathrooms need updating. Hot water took ages to come through for the shower so it seems a lot of water was wasted. More of a problem in Melbourne that we are alert to everywhere we travel.
